What I have heard about the collector vessel is that you have to detach yourself from cover in order to get charge to work without being thrown back to the point where you charged from.

Doesn't work. The platforms are really finicky since they seem to count as separate rooms/regions (I dunno). You need a clear line of sight on a level plane with no obstructions in order to charge across platforms; and even then it might not work. You're better off doing cover shooting and ignoring charge at these points.

Confirmed. Trying to Charge enemies got me killed so many times I finally gave up and just used my guns. I even swapped out my armor so that I maxed out weapon damage, which means I swapped my Strength Boost Pads for N7 Shoulder guards for the mission.

I thought the whole Charge power **** was retarded, pointless, gay, and ineffective. Recharging your biotic points takes forever after using that pointless crap.  Doesn't even take out alot of HP from the enemy AI-NPC, just a split second stun, and then you're like right there where as they're full on HP, got a direct lock on, and they are shooting the **** out of your ass with their infinite rounds for suddenly Charging next to them and ****. Mass Effect 1 gave people the ability to choose a favorite power to assign to a instant power button, MsEf2 automatically assigned charge as a ****ing quick favorite where as you can't select one you'd like using and all.

still a fun game to play.=]

I thought the whole Charge power ...

Can't tell if you're trolling or not, but charge is by far, not a useless skill. If you use it right, you can clear out a room faster than any class in ME2.

Doesn't even take out alot of HP from the enemy AI-NPC

That's what shotguns are for. They are one of the most overpowered weapons at pointblank range and can kill most enemies in one hit, barring the obvious tanks which take 2-3 hits. The general strategy is to take out a single enemy that provides decent cover + flanking position. So you charge, kill the lone enemy, and leave the rest very exposed to either you or your allies. People usually don't like charge because they haven't figured out how to use it correctly.
