Ok I have run into a problem where my computer keeps telling me that it cannot find the DA disk even though it is sitting in the DVD drive, I know my DVD drive is working because as soon as I put the disk in it plays the autorun and displays the launcher but when I go to click play it tells me it cant find the disk. I am using a legitimate copy of the game and the disks are the same ones that came in the DA case.

Edit: Oh and also when I try to log into my account on this site on my computer with windows 7 as soon as I try to go to another page it logs me straight out again. I had to use an older computer running on XP to write this topic.

Your second problem is the site's, not the game's, for which there is a separate forum.

The first problem is with your DVD drive, and although Bioware has never admitted to knowing that EA added it, seems to be special tracks to make copying the disk more difficult, that end up making some drives operate poorly.  Most frequently, this causes the install to fail.  Very rarely, it affects games that have made it through the install.

You can try swapping DVD drives around from one PC to another, borrow an external DVD drive, run the install from one PC to another across a LAN or even just from one PC's ethernet port to the other's with a single Cat-5 cable, copy each disk to its own folder on the hard drive for the source of the install, or if all else fails, use the CD-Key number of your hard-copy game to obtain a digital copy of the game from the EA store (digital copies have no disk check).

Personally, I have a couple of PCs (my newest pair) with Plextor drives (supposed to be a top brand), which will work fine for the disk check, but couldn't be used for the install.  Anyway, I've just tried several possible search terms trying to find prior threads about your problem, and was seriously unsuccessful.

Yeah I tried using my external DVD drive as well, same problem. Thing is it only really started doing this recently, before that it worked fine. I am wondering if trying to enable the developer console stuffed up my game, however any changes I did do should have not affected the disk read in any way.

This is what I did

"Console Command Codes

Make a shortcut to your desktop of "daorigins.exe" (Dragon Age/bin_ship/daorigins.exe) go to shortcut properties, and under Target add -enabledeveloperconsole (after ..daorigins.exe" )

This can be done on the Steam version by right clicking on the game in your Games List, choosing Properties, and clicking Set Launch Options. This allows you to enter command line option.

Then go into the keybindings.ini file located in "My Documents\\BioWare\\Dragon Age\\Settings\\" Find the line "OpenConsole_0=Keyboard::Button_X" (GRAVE is default, change X to any button that is not already used in the game.)

Save the file, and start the game with the shortcut you created on your desktop (daorigins.exe - shortcut)

In-game, you press the key that you have chosen (Keyboard::Button_X) and then type the following codes: (Note, this has only been tested on the retail version, and not the Steam version. Also, you may not see the console, or what you are typing, this is normal.)"

But I do not see how that could have caused this problem.

Changing the .exe shouldn't affect the dvd being read.

Has the disk became scratched up recently? Check it over really well maybe a one deep scratch has been added recently. (finger nail test, run your finger nail over it, if it falls in or gets caught that scratch might have ruined the disk)

Clean the disk, rubbing alchol and a something that doesnt leave lint and is really soft)(cotton ball)

Odd that you post Steam quote, since you have disk though I'll ignore steam completly.(steam doesn't need disk)

This isn't a common error, so the best I guess is it is a game disk issue, If all other game disks are being read fine.... and another disk reader isn't working.

Don't worry though if that is the case, because if all else fails you can download the game from the EA Store with your cd key :) . Of course it's a large game and dowload will take awhile, but is better than nothing.

Top middle is EA Download manager.

(Your second problem, has to do with cookies/cache.

Try changing browser/internet options under tools, privacy to allow more.)

I had the same problem to the T it seems. If the window's title bar that says cannot find dragon age disk reads Dragon age: awakenings...you just have to have the awakenings disk and not origins. If you have awakenings that could be the problem..you know, maybe

You aren't including adequate information with which to attempt any diagnosis.
