I got this game a couple days ago and it is unplayable. It keeps FREEZING up. I literally cant get out of the first building i am in because it keeps freezing up before i can get out. What a RIP OFF!

I REALLY WANT TO PLAY THIS GAME! I love RPGs(been busy with a different one lately). Does anybody have any suggestions on how i can get past this? Does it freeze more at certain parts of the game than others? Any Help would be GREATLY appreciated.
:(

UPDATE: Turning down the Music setting all the way stopped the freezing for me. I just played almost 2 hours with no freezing.

How long has this been going on? Is there a patch being made to fix the problem?

It has been about three miserable weeks, since Sony launched firmware 3.30.

A patch is being put through testing, though we don't know how long until it will be ready to download.

It is a bummer, i know.

I find playing my Awakening and not being online greatly cuts down on the crashes managed 3 hours yesterday before my wife started to complain

yup, just save often and it tends to crash less. I'd say every 15-20 minutes save.

Don't worry about it though, it is happening to all us PS3ers

I think a moderator said we will see the patch towards the end of this week.

If the DA:O data was something you could copy on to an external harddrive, you could simply back up all the data and wipe the PS3 so the Firmware update isn't there, but you can't copy DA:O data sadly.
