On a related note.

At least you didn't fall for the old "Antivan massage" trick.

What trick? He is just trying to be helpful by helping you relieve stress. I did think it was odd he was naked when he was giving me the message, I just chocked it up to dedication...... lol :P

Btw, I don't see how people feel that Leliana is the same. Is the female romance so different?

To initiate the Leliana romance as a male warden you have to basically almost say "HEY I WANT TO ROMANCE YOU" by picking really obvious come on lines in dialogue. Just being nice won't start the romance.

Uhh, you haven't played a female character, have you? It seems no matter what you say, Leliana is almost programed to insta-love female characters. It is very buggy. Even being rude and nasty isn't a guarantee it won't trigger.

I don't know how many times I've done playthroughs where I was getting ready to invite Alistair or Zevran to the tent, only to discover "I had a thing" with leliana. (Though Alistair thought the whole non-existant idea was really hot).

I assure you, if you want low effort romance with leliana, play a female. It seems she is much more into her own side.

Haven't been stealth loved by anyone else, though others have reported stealth love with Alistair (post Landsmeet, both sexes, yes, he will sadly try to break up with YOUR MALE DWARF if you made him king, pointing out that sadly, you can't have babies together) But other than that, never been ninja'd by anyone except Leliana, THE LOVE NINJA.

So...does anyone know what *exactly* the romance starter lines for Leliana are? Maybe I can do one play through with a ninja-romance.

Yes. For females it's:

"Yes, you may join our party, welcome aboard."

If you really don't want to have to put up with Leliana's romance just do what I did my first play through and don't talk to her or give her presents. She wont bother you then.

I was thinking of a female elf mage for my next playthrough.  I'm a little scared of the sacred ashes quest, though since by any logic she ought to despise the Chantry.  It could result in a very nasty end to my Leliana romance.  Maybe if she's really in love, she'll spare the urn just for Leliana.

re:  Alistair breaking up with the male dwarf--that's hilarious.  Maybe wynne is right and he really doesn't know where babies come from!

In my Equal Love playthrough, I was actually kind of relieved that Alistair didn't want to be king because I was thinking how silly the discussion of our potential for offspring would be.  I didn't see an option for me to marry him if he was on the throne, so they mod-makers may have been smart enough to prevent that.  Gay marriage in Ferelden would seem a little jarring.

My blood mage in this playthrough romanced Leliana and destroyed the Urn. She just left leliana back at camp. Leli seemed none the wiser. So, be a chantry hating lesbian/bi elf mage to your heart's content.

It is hiliarious. A friend of mine sent me some screenshots via IM. I had told him I had heard about the bug. He thought it was hiliarious. His Dwarf noble had a good bromance with Alistair. Guess he didn't know how good. The whole dialogue Alistair was talking to him like a female love interest. He went for the more heavy duty /heartbreak lines for laughs.

It would have been worth it for the conversation alone..LOL! Alistair man-on-man stealth love is just ridiculously hysterical.

That's why it's so funny. It's like, the last thing you'd expect. It's clearly a bug. And one that i find funny, because Alistair is lamenting he won't be able to make babies with you...like this is some dire revelation.

With leliana, however, I already know she's bi, and has gender-specific romance convos and options, so I end up with these insane jealousy conversations about romances I was certain was non-existant.

I wonder if people have some sort of Leilana love bug (game bug, not disease) to get involved with her more than twice since I tried to do that romance on purpose once and found only two conversation moments that lead to it:

1. When talking about your hair and asking her if she prefers the company of women - two out of three options lead to romance 2. After her quest if you ask about Marjolaine being "special" to her most of the following options get her interested and not all of them are obvious.

Edit: Forgot to say this is for females only. I'm not sure about the males since my male wardens have been to busy with Zevran/Morrigan to pay attention to her.

I recall that there was a bug, at least with the HNF, where you shut Leliana down and then after the Landsmeet she's all "So, you and Alistair..."  It happened with a couple of my HNF chars when I was at 100 Friendly with her.

Naw, has nothing to do with shutting her down.  Just a bug in the game -- if a HN is getting married, she breaks up.  It's a pretty easy fix.

I suspect a bug too. Those two are REALLY obvious. Just don't ask "Do you often enjoy the company of other women?" and about her feelings toward Marjolaine. I avoided those two and never had any problems.
I also choose options like "Well we're friends aren't we?" and any dialogue option with the word "friend" in it, is usually the way to go to avoid romance with other companions also.
If you're in doubt just check if "friendly" changed to "adore" after conversations.

For all you guys who got ninja romanced by Zevran because you didn't want to act homophobic, I applaud you.

This is, after all, not a game for children, so it should be assumed that the people playing it are reasonably mature. It's a mistake to think that there wouldn't be people who are completely comfortable having that kind of conversation with Zevran, without wanting it to develop into a sexual relationship.

Someone ought to add "two clueless gays break-up scene" to a same sex Alistair mod, adding responses when he tells you sadly that you can't have his children like "But you PROMISED ME, DAMNIT! I EVEN STOPPED TAKING THE PILL FOR YOU!"

I always knew Alistair wasn't completely heterosexual.,.I mean, just think of that lamp post conversation. He must just be very picky when it comes to guys.

He is one biologically confused bi, then. Maybe Zevran needs to take him aside and explain some of the benefits of man to man sex. It's obviously they never told him about that part in the Chantry.

Yea, I never understood what's so great about the lampost metaphor in a romance, except that it's most probably a Freudian slip.

It's in the delivery. Alistair, with his goofy virginal charm make's that the bell to Pavlov's dog of many female gamers.

You wouldn't understand. It's an estrogen poisoning moment.

I said "many" females. ;)

It was a rather adorable phallic reference. Maybe because there was a bit of boyish charm amidst the seeming raunchiness.

It is totally in the delivery. It's all in the way he says "licked." The very first time I heard it, I understood exactly what he meant by it and my character was actually kind of shocked that chantry boy said that.
