I think Morrigan is the easiest to avoid romance with, I really don't remember her ever taking any initiative to start something up herself that you are forced to shoot her down from. Avoid the very obvious flirty lines from your end and you would just remain friends.

Alistair seemed to try a lot, even if I took options that made it clear his pick up line had failed he would give flattery another shot later. It was a little amusing by the end of it.

A lot of people have been romanced by accident, but during my first playthrough I found it easy to be clear to Zevran and Leliana that my character was only interested in Alistair. I mean, there's a conversation where Zevran says he thinks the warden is beautiful, then asks her if she minds. I had my character choose the "I don't mind, but don't bother" option, because I felt that it was a) not rude, and B) the fairest and easiest way to not lead him on. As for Leliana, when the hair conversation came up, I just told her how happy I was that we were friends, and things ended there. I mean, it was *extremely* subtle. In neither case did I have to be rude. Just not seeing where people are getting the surprise romance thing...

I had a funny one with Lel this play through. We had the Alistair good in bed convo, then a little later we're talking about Marg, she tells me she is into me, but I tell her we're just friends. Then next convo - what is this with you and Al? Yes, Lel - I AM in love with him. Then after the engagement - so I heard about the engagement, what, were you just playing around with me???

I SWEAR, I didn't lead her on

The confrontation after a human noble announces their engagement is a bug, and it has nothing to do with romance status. What happens is that dialog triggers automatically after the landsmeet either after Alistair and the PC get engaged OR Anora and the PC discuss getting engaged before the landsmeet (HNM don't even actually have to get engaged to Anora to get the Leliana dialog there).

Edit: One additional line of code and one fix to the current code and the confrontation only happens when she's in a romance and only when the warden actually ends up engaged.

It can be fixed further in the dialog so she gives the proper speech when hardened.  Poor Leliana -- she gets slammed for this one.

You do have to talk to her; it's not an automatic dialog.  I actually have a fix for it up, but if you're not talking to her at all, it's not needed!

Yeah I need to go back into old DA:O saves, make sure Zev is *totally* clear on us not being partners, and then make sure I side step all the bugs revolving around Morrigan so I can replay a hopefully patched DA:A to get the correct slide show etc. Yeesh!

My gay was ninja-romanced by Morrigan. He and I were both very upset about the situation, for it was Zevran who made my total-militant-gay to choose between him and Morrigan. Like my purists would never touch a woman! And I really wish there would be a convo-option for "what junk you have been smoking now?" in that situation.
