They're fantasy films, not sci-fi.

And, in no order:
1. Spaceballs
2. Hellboy
3. Hellboy 2
4. Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure
5. Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey
6. Monsters vs Aliens
7. Blade Runner
8. The Thing
9. Resident Evil: Apocalypse
10. Iron Man.

That definition is pretty interchangeable in most circumstances. (Sci-fi/fantasy)

I am pretty sure the award for best title would be "mega shark vs. giant octopus"...

LotR has absolutely naff all in terms of scientific quantity. If you were to draw a Venn Diagram, you'd have Sci-Fi on one side, Fantasy on another, and a cross over area. But LotR, How to Train Your Dragon and Dragonslayer are clearly on the fantasy side as they share no qualities with Sci-Fi.
Star Wars, however, is pretty much a mix. I believe some of the people who wrote it describe it as "Space Fantasy", i.e. an amalgamation of the two genres.

Well, I've watched Dragonslayer on the sci-fi channel & Netflix has LOTR in their sci-fi/fantasy genre... it's as close to 'sci-fi' as I get.

I watched Dungeons & Dragons 2: Wrath of the Dragon God, Sword of Xanten and Legend of the Seeker on the UK's Sci-Fi channel (same company, it's now SyFy like your own), and they're not sci-fi.
Sci-Fi and Fantasy are grouped together, yes, and they do share some crossovers, but LotR still isn't sci-fi.

Yeah but it's semantics.  For the purpose of this general topic who cares?
