It took me a while but I discovered the forcefield crushing prison counter.

It only took me to my second playthrough. 
The oh no the enemy mage has crushing prisoned my warrior, this would cause me to try and heal the poor victim all the time they where trapped. 
Then I discovered force field, and I wondered why it took me so long to find that one.  (possibly becuase I was doing damage spells first playthrough not disabling). 
Force field explosively removes crushing prison if anyone hasn't found this one yet, the crushing victim being fine.

My other fun tactic with force field is to get the mage to acquire as much aggro as possible.  Which is really easy when they are throwing Hexes around.  Oddly enough the moment a death hex hits an opponent they seem to take it personally.  Any Hex actually tends to make your mage a pretty big target.  This is when forcefield saves the day again.

The joys of running Morrigan into battle pissing everyone off, and then forcefielding herself whilst the warriors and Lelliana/Zevran stabbed them all in the back.   Works particular well against those Shades.
