So um how do you get past the ogre on normal mode if you made a mage?

Saved my butt many times over through out the game.
Agreed.
But it only took me one paralyze and the whole party beating the crap out of him while it was in effect.

You will have the Dog if you started out in the human noble origin. So Default137 couldn't be a mage
Non-human nobles get the Dog at Ostigar.

I had the awesome tower guard pull out his crossbow; the ogre decided crossbowmen are delicious. Safe to say, ogres are slow so I just had the guard run around the whole time while the rest of my characters attacked the ogre.
Sounds like something off Benny Hill

Everybody in this entire topic wrote...
1. Stunlock/other CC the ogre (or use an invulnerability option on your main tank)
2. Attack.
3. ???
4. Profit!

Flame Cone, Heal, Sprite, Grease.
I had Allister, Tower Guard (with Xbow and fire bolts), and Soldier
I had 10 lesser healing, 4 Lesser Lyceam(?), 2 Rock poultices
Start of battle I had Allister and Soldier pop the rock poultices. I cast grease on ogre and did pinning shot on the Ogre.
2nd round I move Allister and Soldier to edge of Grease and hit Ogre with arcane bolt.
3rd round I hit Ogre with flame cone and started the melee attack.
From there is was using the melee to try to keep him in the burning grease and keeping healing on Allister and soldier (using heal spell and pots).

Try to save one stun, freeze, incapacitate, whatever for when he picks someone up, if you hit him with one of those then he'll drop the person.

Okay then what did I do wrong?
Got the flower in Wilds and gave to Vet in Ostigar. Vet says Dawg should be all healed up by after the big fight. So did not have Dawg in Tower. On road from Flemeth to Lothering, Dawg came trotting up to me just before first fight.

I tried the more strategic approaches mentioned above a few times, but all I saw was "resist, resist, resist"
After the initial clash he never touched me again

for all but human nobles, the dog isnt available until well after you finish ostagar. do the flower quest, and you'll meet up with it in a random battle after ostagar. no dog for non human nobles on the fight in question

That was I think what made me want to melt my PC to slag....How many times can an enemy resist forms of damage?? Not a fair fight, but what do I know about this game - too soon to make judgements. I am sure I will be on a road to nowhere soon:blink:
