I prefer the ME1 scenes as well. some skin, but not pornographic...perfect
Yes, they were copy-paste. But I think one good scene is better than several bad ones.

ME1 > ME2 > DAO (just terrible)

Was it the lack of skin or something else that bothered you? I certainly like the ME1 scenes for what they were, but I found the dialogue improved for the ME2 scenes (and though I've only played ME2 only once so far I've seen all the scenes on video playthroughs.

Well, the love scene in ME1 was pretty perfect if you ask me. They were all the same, but it was a really great scene. It was simple and tasteful, and fit well into the feel of the game.
ME2: some scenes are better than others
Jack's (paragon) love scene was well done imo; some cuddling...it makes sense when considering the characters issues.

btw...
I wouldn't mind if BioWare would just leave the sex scenes out of their games. Viconia's romance is still my favorite and BG2 had no sex scenes ^_^
But if they're going to put sex scenes in their games, they need to do it right (=/ Dragon Age)

But BioWare might risk controversy, that would be heavy risk

God of War 3 had three naked woman kissing and touching and Heavy Rain had full frontal nudity. I think Bioware will get away with some nudity. :wizard:

The Mother has twelve ******, I believe. I think we got enough nudity there to encompass both Dragon Age and Mass Effect.

:)

I'll just ignore the silly posts and get to my take on the situation:

It can be summed up in one sentence:

I don't need to see everything, but what I do see should be believable.

The ME2 scenes are actually quite good, right to the point where the actual sex would have to start. From that point onwards, they were just not believable. IMO, the only thing that needed to be changed is to make the characters at least unclothed enough to make sex believable. If that would mean going beyond what is considered acceptable in a game, then either live with it or change the scene to show less overall. The ME1 scenes were more generic, and in this regard I prefer the ME2 scenes, but in ME1 the camera went closer to the characters, so that they could be shown unclothed without showing too much.

My wish for ME3: make the scenes as individual and different as they were in ME2, but make them as believable as the ME1 scenes. A bit of added dialogue would also be appreciated, but not too much.

I'd rather have more dialogue with potential LI's, more like DAO. Rather than to much work going into a sex scene. I find it much more fun to ingage with the character then have five conversations and then "who's your daddy!"

More in depth relational conversations and if there is a sex scene, I would prefer it to be with out nudity, ME1 was fine in this regard.

QFT

I simply want character interaction that is complex, deep, and realistic. It can just be talking for all I care. If people just want to see naked cartoons, there is more than enough rule 34 out there to satisfy that...

Bioware could certainly pull off adding more nudity and dialogue to the sex scenes if they wish.  I admit I was a little annoyed with having no “after the moment” dialogue in ME2, but I did like the way ME2 developed the romance a bit more.  Frankly, being one of those people who play games like the ME series for all the intricacies of the story and not just to shoot things, I’m hoping that Bioware goes even more in depth with the romances in ME3.  While I’m on the subject, (for the benefit of those who think in this erroneous manner) liking a virtual romance in a game has no connection with someone not getting some in real life.  I like to shoot guns in real life, but I also enjoy shooting pixels with my virtual weapon too (pretty sure there might be a pun in that sentence somewhere but it was not intended Image IPB).  About the same with the romance stuff, although admittedly it’s way more fun in real life.   Still it’s enjoyable and adds to the story.
For those who say there is no need for nudity and sex in order to show intimacy, you’re quite right.  Intimacy is about far more than just stripping and jumping in the sack.  Anyone who thinks that’s all there is to it might need a mental evaluation.   At the same time to say that nudity and sex have nothing to do with intimacy in a romantic relationship is equally silly.  That’s akin to saying you don’t need taste buds to eat food.  Sure you can still eat, but it’s not near as much fun. Image IPB  Image IPB  Point is, we can survive without love scenes or nudity in our games but they do add a little more immersion and a bit of extra fun.   Also, games aren’t going to get any better at doing love scenes unless they keep working at it.
Bottom line, Bioware does a good job with the romance stuff.   Is there room for improvement?  Sure there’s always room for some improvement no matter what aspect of a game we’re talking about and I dare say they are aware of that.

Joker: “Anyway, that’s just my opinion.  No need to go spreading it around or anything.”

It's worth noting given all the complaints about its absence that ME2 does have after the moment talk. You just have to wait until after the suicide mission.

Where'd the mood lighting go? I miss the mood lighting from the ME1 scenes.

Not exactly. Only Jacob and Tali have after romance scene dialog.

Do we really need sex scenes in video games?  Are we al 13 year teens?  I'm not saying their can't be sex scenes but we also don't really need them.

Yeah if we cut out the romances we would all have deeper relationships with each of the characters. I'm starting to think the Romances take away more from the game than they add.

Don't agree, actually. Though I would like more friendship material, DA:O I think had a great balance between the two and it certainly had romances (they were arguably a bigger part of the came than in ME1 or ME2). Conversely, I didn't think Storm of Zehir's characters was improved for lack of romance.

No.

A sex scene can be incredibly enjoyable if the romance and the characters are enjoyable. I'm not much for cutting an enjoyable part out of my game, no.

DA: O's scenes made me cringe (watched on Youtube).
I would vastly prefer ME 2's way of doing things for ME 3 (maaaybe longer idk).

DA:O's scenes were beyond horrific. It was like watching a train wreak in slow motion.
