I will buy both because both games warrant their 60 dollar price tag.

I will play both games well over 100 hours.

Red Dead Redemption will likely be the better of the two.

Alpha protocal will be much better imo because it not only has better graphics but their are not enough spy RPGs

Red Dead Redemption has my vote. Alpha Protocol looks good as well, but I don't see it being considered the most amazing game to come out this year.

Alpha Protocol. Disclaimer: I know next to nothing about Red Dead Redemption. What I do know is it's a console exclusive. That rules it out by default. However, I would still give RDR a  pass if it was coming to PCs. It does not seem as story driven as AP, but I could be wrong.

Red Dead Redemption. I mean, watch some of videos. They could all be misleading, but the game looks insanely awesome. Alpha Protocol looks like it has potential, but I just don't know if I have enough faith in Obsidian to be honest. The last game I played by them was KotOR II and it was a mess.

My vote goes to AP. Not only because I am a PC gamer but also because I am a sucker for spy stories and AP seems to be a really good one.

Both naturally, but RDR first.

Also Alan Wake.

It wasn't their fault. It was incomplete. The developers even said that they needed more time but LucasArts wanted it to be by December. I hope Fallout: New Vegas doesn't suffer from that problem.

To be honest, the gameplay footage of Alpha Protocol makes it looks a little clunky. I like that it has a "Mass Effect but in a spy world" kind of approach to it, but still... I don't know, it doesn't seem like the third-person shooter mechanics will be top-notch. I could be wrong though and hope I'm wrong. Perhaps the evolving storyline will make up for all its faults!

Red Dead Redemption, on the other hand, looks absolutely fantastic in every respect (the multiplayer component sounds like a ton of fun!). I'm really hoping they bring it over to the PC, as I'm a strict PC gamer.

It's hard to say. I'm tempted to say Alpha Protocol but I'm pretty furious with Obsidian since they conveniently decided to mention a relatively large spoiler in their advertising.

Words of advice: If you haven't seen any of the official trailers for Alpha Protocol yet, don't!

To be fair, any game that is a third person free roaming game is like GTA. Because GTA defined the thirdperson-freeroaming game design.

Wild West GTA is sort of like saying Mass Effect is just a scifi Dragon Age. Yeah, if you want to shovel all of the hardwork and originality that went into each title and simply summarize them by some core game mechanics...

I lied that's not all im saying.  I see your point, Mass Effect and Dragon Age are two completely different games although there are a few obvious similarites. But that's a given though.

That said, there is nothing wrong that it is a Wild West GTA (although I would hope RockStar would branch off and do something other then that style gameplay).  Im betting it will be a sweat game.  It is still though a GTA at heart.

Plot is similar, main character out for revenge.  Horses and carriges take place of cars.  Possies take the roll of cops.  You still have your vices, sidequests and minigames.  The Train ride is a new thing into the mix.   Gun play is similar (thats a given though)  And ah yes we still have ****s.

Well, Rockstar is going to butcher any PC port like they always do, so Avellone's game for sure.

Says the guy who said that Justice as a character was a spoiler.

Id buy them both if we could afford it.....But seeing as how we cant really even afford one of them atm, Im merely renting them from Gamefly to see if they may be worth buying possibly around X-mas.

Both! Alpha Protocol releases almost two weeks after Red Dead Redemption, so there is plenty of time to play both. I also plan to pick up Alan Wake.

Red Dead Redemption if you do not have the money to afford both Red Dead is rivaling Mass Effect 2 for the best game of 2010 so far.

And to think the years just begun.

Both are good but I have more faith in Red Dead Redemption.

Why?

Because Obsidian has let me down in the past. They don't have a particularly impressive recent history. I consider NWN 2 inferior to NWN1 and KoTOR 2 inferior to KoTOR 1. Good ideas were in both that could of made them great, but executed clumsily.

I get the same sorta clumsy feel from AP, but it does look like it could be a fantastic game, especially since it's not a sequel.

RDR just looks epic and I can't wait to play it.

Now that there are threads for both Alpha Protocol and Red Dead Redemption, i'm going to close this discussion.

End of line.
