In the past twenty minutes, 7 of 10 attempts to click on links are reporting errors equivalent to a "404" page not found, but on a more localised basis. I've even gotten it from my browser's "Reload" button (Firefox 3.6+).
What's happening? During the preceding hour, response time had dropped to a quarter part of the normal here, so something screwy is going on now.
All sorts of error messages this morning
