As for what the patch will include, they typically prioritize bugs that involve stability issues or game-breaking bugs-- those ones require the most complex testing. I understand that you think the Dexterity bug is an issue, and I'm pretty sure it is, but it's not a game-breaking one. I'm not suggesting it won't be addressed as I honestly don't know, but if it's not I'm simply saying it's because there are bigger fish to fry.

Patch Notes:

  • At higher levels, non-player characters now receive a bonus to armor penetration. This mitigates an unintentional imbalance with well-armored high-level characters, since armor penetration previously did not scale as aggressively as armor itself did.
  • Elite-rank
enemies (lieutenants) can no longer be shattered. This preserves the
intended tactical design of many combat encounters.
  • Portraits for summoned creatures (like a ranger's wolf) were displaying improperly while in the party camp. This no longer occurs.

While it may not be technically "game breaking" the dex bug makes an entire rogue build useless and gimps the damage on ranged attacks. Not only that it's a simple tweak, but I'm sure the ranger's pet portrait is more important than a main stat working properly in the game.......are you kidding me? The fact that I can't make a pure archer that does the damage he should after six+ months is just unacceptable, we see patches all the time for the dlc when it comes out, yet we still haven't gotten a small patch to fix any of the minor, easily fixable bugs. It's beyond frustrating now after so long of hearing the same line over and over but never anything from it, and only at the same time that dlc is coming out or a contest is starting. It's hard to know what to think anymore about this game....

I don't have any answers for you regarding issues, sorry. I'm not someone who deals with bugs (other than the writing-related ones, I suppose). All I can really say is that we're working on it and the issue is really getting everything tested as much as possible. As I'm sure you're all aware, insufficiently tested patches can sometimes cause more problems than they solve.

I think many of us would be willing to help test (under whatever constraints)......have you considered creating a "beta-patch" group out of a portion of the modding community?

I say its a very game breaking issue. Because as fun as 2-handed swords and S&S are i like being a duelest rogue only way i can hit high is to have high cunning but i still need to spend points on dex for duel weilding abilitys i would very much like to see a patch that fixes dex. Also from the sounds of what david said it doesn't sound like we'll see a patch for a very long time also i want the DLC issues fixed......

I've managed to play-through Awakening on my 4-year-old PC running Windows XP. Yes, there are bugs but no game-breakers. I've installed some mods that have fixed a lot of the minor bugs. The only major bug I know of is the Silverite Mines losing armour for AW but there's a work-around to that one. I've not encountered the companion approval bug.

See, there's no rule for this, that I know of. On previous runs I had the "companion approval bug" for Vellana and Sigrun but never for Justice. This time, (abt 1 hr ago) as soon as I was forced to talk to Justice after the battle where he's forced upon us as companion, because of a "bad good choice" in the dialogue, he went to +100 approval in one shot and thus, no "Influence Bonus Skill" for him on this run. It might be related with the main char class, perhaps. Previous runs were done with different class.

I'd dare to say that the dex for dual dagger rogues are working just fine. If by "only way I can hit high" you mean the maximum damage dealt in one hit, my level 25 Duelist/Assassin/STR/DEX based at the end of Origins had 106 dmg while the lvl 25 Duelist/Assassin/CUN/DEX based had 117dmg as top, which is pretty good considering that Rogues are pure dps'er and not necessarily the "best damage per hit" which on a melee char is the Two Handed Warrior quality.

My level 21 Archer, in Origins, has 602 as max dmg dealt and still some game ahead of him where he'll likely increase that as he'll gain at least 4 more levels.

Now, I rushed the Dual Dagger Rogue to Awakening because I was impressed with the 4007 dmg I got Nathe to achieve with his rogue talents in a previous run. My Rogue has 943 dmg so far and still a long way to go and I'm sure she will get it even higher than Nathe. Those numbers are good enough for me to think that DEX is working just fine.

It looks like you're playing on PC, dex has been fixed for that. The good Commander is playing on a console where Dex is still broken for us.

Aw man, forgot about that. Sorry. I never had a console. And I have no idea why a patch would be released for the PC and not for other plataforms if the game is the same but then, what do I know... =}

I can't really comment on what platforms the patch is for. Consoles are more complicated because they require certification.

I can't see how making a patch for a console in which know precisely what the hardware setup for every user will be is more complicated than making a patch for PC.  Unless by "complicated because they require certification" you mean "costs money".

That as maybe, but it doesn't stop you releasing patches to enable expansions and dlc. It seems they're only complicated when they don't make money for bioware.

It has to be approved by Microsoft/Sony is what Certification means

I know what it means.

But still I don't see how it makes it more  complicated than making a patch for PC, where many different hardware and software configurations have to be taken into account.

It only means that a) the patch has to work and B) it costs money. It isn't some super-secret-super-difficult process. Heck if Two Worlds can get certification from MS then anything can.

They have unlimited space to work with in regards to a PC patch. There is a file size limit to a patch for the 360 version that is very, very small.

PS3 version shouldn't be much of a problem.

EDIT:  One of the reasons why you might be seeing them delay patches until DLC comes out is because they probably include fixes in the DLC as a way to get around the file size limit on 360

I wish this could happen, but it hasn't happened... and more likely it won't. None of the DLC have got patches (in the Xbox).

So,what was stated by Mr. Woo: is the true stance of BW? or it is also a bunch of BS?... so far, the actions of Bioware (ignoring Xbox 360 forums, posting announcements only, not delivering a patch, using the same response script: "we are working on it, no ETA") only reinforce and support such a statement.

If most of us had known that it is BW's stance, we wouldn't call it a con...

It is a favour. We are under no obligation to provide post-release patches. I believe the EULA for most, if not all games states something to the effect of the product being released "as-is" and the software having no warranty in and of itself. I seem to remember reading that, so please correct me if I'm wrong. Any warranty included in game purchases relates directly to the physical media on which the game is printed.
You are not entitled to a game that works to your specifications or to your satisfaction

So they've basicly told us to f*ck off and keep giving them money for dlc, because they'd rather hide behind the EULA than fix their f*cking game. The only reason we even get the "we're looking into it, no ETA" line is so we'll think a fix is actually coming and buy the latest dlc. If you notice the timing it's always near the release of a dlc, or contest they want votes for, an expansion etc.
In almost seven months of the same cycle, they haven't done sh*t to fix this game, or given any solid info on fixes at all. The fact that so many people buy this bs and then go on to buy up every little dlc they release only gives them less reason to fix the game, I mean why spend money when people will still buy everything they release despite the lack of any real fixes.
They have lost a lot of long-time fans from their behavior to date, myself included, a lot of us were worried when EA bought Bioware, and now we see those fears come true. Once EA is done with them they'll be tossed aside and EA will move onto the next company it can use up.

2 patches have been released in the past 24 hours. 1 for Dragon Age and 1 for Mass Effect.

Confirmed : Bioware has not abandoned either game.

Patches as a "favour": perhaps the word "favour" is the catalyst here. All I meant was that developers are never obligated to provide post-release support. And yet, pretty much every developer does because it just makes sense

Here's a good question:

Does Bioware test ANYTHING before they release it? Seriously, all these glitches and patches that only make things worse....Seems to me they just throw **** together and call it good. >_>
