Sure, but it is a one-time off. My major issue is in the mission for getting Legion. LOTS of husks and so far I haven't found the magic mix of squad members to most effectively deal with them all.

Mordin and samara with incinerate blast and area reave and some area biotic like throw field. The "nuke" destroy the core in one shot.So save the heavy weapon for the last part.

No. The best by far is Garrus and Grunt. Garrus's AP ammo obliterates the armor for the Scions, and Grunt is a CQB god. Why? Because his I. AM. KROGAN! charge kills a Husk in 1 hit. Yeah. 1 hit. And it can go through multiple husks. I've seen him kill 4 in a single charge. And he'll keep doing it too, as long as they are close. As a Sentinel I was able to beat the IFF mission without dying on Insanity with them. It's amazing. Oh yeah, and bring the Cain for the core.

On missions there are heavy weapon ammo boxes. You just have to collect enough. That is exactly why I don't like the Cain though. I've never had a situation where I needed a mini-nuke to save me. I'll take the avalanche most of the time, because the feeze duration is very long in comparison to cryo ammo or even deep cryo freeze. The Arc Projector is a fantastic heavy weapon though.

Thanks for the feedback. I wish there was some way to produce heavy weapon ammo, at the expense of resources or whatever. :(

Or just open up the cargo bay area on the Normandy. The map is already made, after all (though an undamaged version may take some work).
Have 1 medikit and 1 container of power cells there, that recharges after missions.

I still think the M-490 Blackstorm Projector is the best.

Don't have it so I can't speak for it. Out of the heavy weapons that I have, I agree with the OP in that the arc is probably the best for general purpose, especially on mechs.
To be honest, I only ever use the grenade launcher, the avalanche, or the arc projector. I also try to limit use of heavy weapons.

I find it to be the most useful general purpose heavy weapon, plus it looks nice on Shepard's back (unlike some monstrosities). I usually take it everywhere, apart from the few times when the cain is preferable such as the endgame.

For actual Heavy Weapons, I prefer the Arc Projector. The Cain is nice, but takes too much to fire. I will admit, though, that having the Cain on a Vanguard is nice for those few occasions where things are too much of a pain in the ass to do the normal way. For example, on Horizon, during the Praetorian fight, if you take too long, EDI will actually say, 'Thank you for waiting' while you work to kill the thing. True story.

I only like to use heavy weapons on BIG Baddies that just take too much work any other way. I hate using them on peons that I can kill easily another way. So the only weapon I carry the most part of the game is CAIN. I don't use it much, but when I do, it is because it makes it easier by far.

Easiest way to kill husks, is Singularity and if armor is needed to be stripped, then heavy cannon and Singularity. One shot maybe two kills the armor, and then the Heavy singularity floats them up and kills them. Easy to do, drop a Singularity on the floor, have you and your squad behind it the armor drops, husks float rinse and repeat, almost no effort. I sure wouldn't waste a bunch of heavy weapon ammo on them.

Heavy weapon use for me is, armored flyers with rocket launcher on Garrus and Samara missions. Cain on three heavy mechs mission, Praetorian at end of Horizon, Praetorian/collectors/husks combo in Collector ship, end of Haelstrom(Tali recruitment), end of IFF, Scion in endgame, and final boss. Everything else usually gets stomped the normal way. The Scion in the endgame fight, is just because it is easier and you get a 100pt bonus at the next cutscene for heavy ammo, so you don't lose out on two shots at Arnie.

I tend to use heavy weapons with frugality, reserving them for the most dangerous situations, especially very few boss fights; thus my favorite heavy weapon is the M-920 Cain. When I know the Cain will not be used I select the Arc Projector. The Firestorm should be a very efficient choice, especially for class who have not access to shotguns but as I said I use heavy weapons with frugality.

I often forget to use my heavy weapons, relying on a mix of weapons and powers to get through fights instead. It's also influenced by the fact that heavy weapon ammo is so rare; I tend to use heavy weapons only for specific battles (like the Cain against the Thresher Maw, or the Blackstorm against the swarms of Husks on the Derelict Reaper). I'm still hoping for a DLC that introduces a Merchant NPC on the Normandy that allows you to buy/sell resources and buy medigel and HWA.

It really does seem a terrible oversight that you can't do anything with resources after a certain point. Being able to trade them for Medigel and Heavy Weapon Ammo sounds like an awesome idea.

I alternate between the Cain and Arc Projector. I just switch to the Cain on missions I know there are going to be tough 'boss' like enemies and I feel I'll need it to make that part of it easier. The Arc Projector I use for every other mission and tend to only use it for the heavy groups of enemies like on alot of husks or something.

I hate to be off-topic, but how is the Avalanche meant to be used? I have no real experience with it, but I hear it wrecks the everloving hell out of resistances.

One shot doesn't do a lot of damage (well, it'll kill the defenses of any regular mob), but the point is that it can be fired as fast as you can tap the button.

Ah, I see. It sounds like something I'd want to use on...like, a Vanguard or something.

I use the avalanche basically all game once I research it. I like the effect heavy weapons over the pure damage ones, and because the avalanche can ice targets for about 15 seconds, it gives me a reason use it if I'm in a pickle.

The arc projector while fun doesn't seem to be all that effect against non geth enemies. Though I haven't tried it with the husks. My go to heavy weapon is the Particle Beam but on the IFF retrieval I take the Cain so I can do a one shot one kill to the mass effect generator at the end. As for husks, squad cryo is a one shot one kill for husks. For my money can't beat it.
