Hi all.
At present, Mass Effect will not start for me. The problem began when I was using Xfire to record one of the endgame cutscenes. Suddenly, I got pulled out of the game for an alert that I was out of hard drive space because the video format was too large. The game did not crash, however.
I can't quite remember if I tried reloading a saved game afterwards, or if I exited the game and then tried to start it up later on. The result, however, was that the game no longer starts. All I get is a splash screen, then the following message:
ReadFile failed: Count=0 BufferCount=-846 Error=Invalid access to memory location.
I have a small idea of what this may mean, but I don't want to try anything without some more input from people who might know more than I do. I've tried searching for any mention of this error, but nothing's come up so far...Any help would be appreciated.

First off, you've now freed some more space on your drive, right?
First thing I would try is re-naming Profile.MassEffectProfile in your My Documents\\Bioware\\Mass Effect\\Save directory. If that works, your MassEffectProfile file is probably corrupted.

No, that did no good. I tried renaming and even removing (after backing up) the file, but the game still fails to start with the same message.

You could also try running the configuration program, going to repair, and choosing "delete local shader cache." If that doesn't work, I'm out of ideas and can only recommend a re-install. :/

Ah, that seems to have done the job. Thanks!
