@ Ecael: In catching up on this thread, I have this to say to you: Was Mass Effect 2 a step forward? Maybe in some ways. But there are also legitimate criticisms that can be made, particularly with the story, and I think people need to tolerate that just as people on the old Mass Effect forums accepted the justified criticisms of Mass Effect 1's flaws. In summary: both games were good in different ways, but both also had their flaws. Neither is perfect, and pointing this out should not instantly make one a target for hate on these forums.

I don't think Ecael was saying critcisms were not allowed or should even be undesired. I think she was saying that the flamewar ME1 vs. ME2 crap ought to stop.

Which I agree with.

Goodwood humbly suggests that your life, and those around you, would be made considerably easier if you chose to give others the benefit of the doubt in their conversations. Split ends often result in folks spending a lot of time and money at the hair salon.

Yes, I agree that we should be able to have intelligent ME1 vs. ME2 discussions without it turning into a flamewar.  But this is the internet, so the chances of that are pretty small.

The characters, classes and builds forum was opened three months ago after the character threads had a large amount of posts. Here is the thread that announces the opening of that forum. The language used in that post shows that it is a strategy and Shepard sharing forum, not a squadmate discussion forum.
