Hello Mass Effect fans

As many of you are aware, there was a 4 part comic book series from Dark Horse comics set in the Mass Effect universe calleed Mass Effect Redemption. It was written by Mass Effect's lead writer Mac Walters with John Jackson Miller, covers by Alan Mandryk and drawn by artist Omar Francia . It is an awesome story that gives background to Liara T'Soni's character and what happened to her between Mass Effect 1 and Mass Effect 2.

If you didn't manage to get your hands on the comics, fear not! They have been collected together into one handy-to-read trade paperback. Now you can get the entire story in one handy volume. The trade paperback goes on sale at retailers on June 23 at good comic shops and book stores near you. You can also order directly from Dark Horse Comics and get more detail on the trade paperback here: http://www.darkhorse...-Redemption-TPB.

Also, for those super-fans like myself, there is a very rare Hardcover edition of the Mass Effect Redemption trade paperback coming. The Hardcover edition is ONLY available online through the Science Fiction Book Club here: http://www.sfbc.com/...kuId=1063739694 and will only be available at Hastings book stores. Check with your local Hastings bookstore for details. :)

I already own the comics on the iPod Touch, but it's a alright comic. A good read for fans on Liara, though you might be disappointed by how it fits into Liara's motives in ME2.

Lying makes baby Jesus cry Chris.  This comic was awful and an insult to the character of Liara who acts out of character from the get go.  The story is woeful.  Every issue is the same - Liara goes after Shepard, something prevents her from getting Shepard. Liara goes after Shepard, something prevents her from getting Shepard.  Lather, rinse, repeat.  #4 twist: Liara goes after Shepard, something prevents her from get Shepard, Jar Jar Binks stumbles about, she get's Shepard.

The comic books fails to shows us how Liara changed from ME1 to ME2 because she has already changed into Asari Schwarzenegger at the start of the comic and is not the nerdish, akward Prothean expert that we know and love.

The motivations put forward for Liara acting the way she does in ME2 are atrocious.  If you wanted us to feel like Feron was her friend and someone worth fighting for, perhaps you could have shown him being a friend to Liara throughout the series and not just a bumbling oaf who gets in her way.  And Miranda's line "Do whatever you want to do" is an lazy writing at its worst and I know for damn certain Liara would NOT want to become what she has in ME2.

Ugh.

Of course this announcement comes literally the day after I finally get the single issues I bought off of ebay in the mail. Oh well.

Anyway, since we're talking about it, I thought it was a pretty good comic, although the art is too wonky for the fantastic coloring to save it at times. Reading it after having played ME2 to death and back was fun, I got a kick out of seeing the familiar locales and characters - playing the game feels a bit stale these days because I've just replayed it too damn many times. Story's okay, although the pacing's a bit off, which I'd attribute to the writer not being used to the medium (you can't just string "quests" together like you would in a videogame, and that's basically what it is), and while our pal WilliamShatner is overdoing his usual negativity to the point of trolling again, I also don't think Liara's character development was handled that well. I can see what's supposed to be going on - she gets progressively more angry and violent until she basically tears half a station apart with her biotics. But nobody reacts to it, so it's just sort of happening, and if I hadn't already seen what the point was in ME2, I probably just would've thought "huh, didn't know she could do that." But it's still a fun read if you're an ME2 geek.

How about those that live up here in the Great White North?? From the Science Fiction Book Club's Website, they say only US Citizens can sign up...and as for Hastings....do they even exist up here?

Am I gonna be stuck trying to peddle a copy off Ebay for some crazy, over-inflated price?

WFT pear fits nicely, I think.

Tbh, the only thing that was awesome about the comic, was the cover to the first one (which, BW store, if you haven't already turned that into a  poster, please do!!).  I was hoping the comic would resolve so much more, but at the end, it left us with more questions . . . I know comics aren''t supposed to be literary masterpieces, but it wouold have been nice to know more behind the story.  That is all.
