How about those that live up here in the Great White North?? From the Science Fiction Book Club's Website, they say only US Citizens can sign up...and as for Hastings....do they even exist up here?

Am I gonna be stuck trying to peddle a copy off Ebay for some crazy, over-inflated price?

Amazon.ca sells it.

12 bucks if you order now.

WFT pear fits nicely, I think.

Tbh, the only thing that was awesome about the comic, was the cover to the first one (which, BW store, if you haven't already turned that into a  poster, please do!!).  I was hoping the comic would resolve so much more, but at the end, it left us with more questions . . . I know comics aren''t supposed to be literary masterpieces, but it wouold have been nice to know more behind the story.  That is all.

Watchmen, Sandman, Love and Rockets ... These ARE literary masterpieces, but I suppose it is tough to tell a story when you can't really tell anything.  That's the problem w/ tie-in comics.  They have to tell a story without revealing too much of the tie-in product.

There's also a thin line between "reading between the lines" and "doing the writer's work for them."  Redemption, IMO, crosses that line.  There is a contridiction between the game and the comic that can be resovled if you work at it.  I don't want to be spoon fed a story, but I do need a few bread crubs.  Unfortunately, there just aren't enough to get me from the comic to the game on one of the more  fundamental aspects of Liara's character.  Most Liara fans know what the contridiction is, but I won't spoil it for the rest.

@ Jamie, I will agree about Watchmen and V for Vendetta 100%, in fact, I almost mentioned that in my post! lol Yeah, I think they failed hard, and the big indicator is, that the reader has to spend so much time reading between the lines, and finding ways to reason out the plot gaps and inconsistencies.

I'm not saying I didn't enjoy the ME comic, or that I won't buy more in the future (because I will), I just think it's important to voice the problems with the comic that are so glaring. My two cents

I love it how they DON'T sell them anywhere but the US...Thank's again Bioware, glad to know you support the community.

Really? I know some posters from Europe that get the comic, but they must order from overseas. That sucks! I wish Bw would take better care of the non-American fans. :(

Actually, I think an ME comic would be pretty good, though I wouldn't want any more tie-ins.

I do wish you guys would start stocking some of this stuff on the Bioware store so it's more easily available for international customers.

This.

I reread the whole thing again today, and I have to say it was a god awful comic series. I have a hard time believing that John Jackson Miller, who also wrote the KoToR comic series, also wrote this (or adapted the story for the comic). KoToR (the comic) was a lot of fun, building on the universe that was introduced to us in KoToR (the game).

This on the other hand, is utter crap. From the get go, Liara's already markedly different from the ME 1 characterization. We have no damn idea why Liara is doing what she's doing, and why the hell she's doing it alone. No help from Garrus, Wrex, or anybody else? Really? They didn't give a damn about Shepard's body? How the hell did the Blue Suns even get it? As for Feron, I don't understand how Liara could possibly devote the rest of her life to avenging him. Why the hell should she care about him? He spent over 3/4 of the series lying to her and screwing up her plans. I didn't care about him one damn bit. For a company that has built its reputation on creating memorable characters, this was complete and utter fail.

This was a horrible, horrible way to introduce the ME universe to the comic reading community, and that's just sad. I hope the new series that they have planned is better, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

The comic was fine, good artwork throughout, not a lot happened in it though, especially considering the way she implied a whole hell of a lot happened getting my Shepard's body back (I MEAN, WE KILLED HER MOTHER, YOU'D THINK THAT WOULD BE A BIGGER DEAL) and it came out too late.

I would not even wipe my ass with that comic that's how bad it is. There was so many questions after playing ME2 concerning Liara and there was some rumors that much would be explained in the comic. Well the comic was full of bad artwork and not a sign of any answers or explanations to anything. If EAWares goal was to utterly destroy Liara then they have succeeded and if not then they failed really badly.

I managed to get #2 and #3, so I'm left hanging "in the middle". I have no idea how Shepard's dead body (or "mostly dead body") ended up in possession of the Blue Suns merc group. And I can't even imagine how Liara T'soni would have learnt of this.

But apparently people who have read #1 and/or #4 aren't any wiser than I am. And this is no good storytelling.

Hey look, this thread attracted the "No Fun" crowd.

Great announcement. I'll probably pick up the HC from my local Hastings once it's out. Read the first issue that came with the collector's edition, and was holding off on the remaining 3 just for this moment.

If they're going to do cross promotional stuff like this hire some writers that know how to write for comics/novels.

Hello Mass Effect fans

As many of you are aware, there was a 4 part comic book series from Dark Horse comics set in the Mass Effect universe calleed Mass Effect Redemption. It was written by Mass Effect's lead writer Mac Walters with John Jackson Miller, covers by Alan Mandryk and drawn by artist Omar Francia . It is an awesome story that gives background to Liara T'Soni's character and what happened to her between Mass Effect 1 and Mass Effect 2.

Lying makes baby Jesus cry Chris.  This comic was awful and an insult to the character of Liara who acts out of character from the get go.  The story is woeful.  Every issue is the same - Liara goes after Shepard, something prevents her from getting Shepard. Liara goes after Shepard, something prevents her from getting Shepard.  Lather, rinse, repeat.  #4 twist: Liara goes after Shepard, something prevents her from get Shepard, Jar Jar Binks stumbles about, she get's Shepard.

The comic books fails to shows us how Liara changed from ME1 to ME2 because she has already changed into Asari Schwarzenegger at the start of the comic and is not the nerdish, akward Prothean expert that we know and love.

The motivations put forward for Liara acting the way she does in ME2 are atrocious.  If you wanted us to feel like Feron was her friend and someone worth fighting for, perhaps you could have shown him being a friend to Liara throughout the series and not just a bumbling oaf who gets in her way.  And Miranda's line "Do whatever you want to do" is an lazy writing at its worst and I know for damn certain Liara would NOT want to become what she has in ME2.

Ugh.

"Ugh" pretty much sums it up doesn't it? :P

I don't think they cared either.  At all.  They made Liara's motivations in ME2 very murky and hard to understand.  Heck... they even hid the explanation for her behavior behind a one-chance option on the dialogue wheel.  Players were left scratching their heads, but we were promised that the comic would explain things.

The only thing that waste of trees did was muddy the waters even more.  But we all bought it anyway, handing over our hard-earned money for the priviledge of watching a once great character completely destroyed.  And since the comic was such a success, EAware probably feels like they did an "awesome" job.

Now that all the copies of Redemption are out, can we get some news on the Liara DLC please? It's just that at the end of the comic it says 'concluded in ME2', and this story is clearly not concluded in ME2.

After so much time has passed and discussion on the topic has been done, and considering the overwhelming disappointment of both ME2 and the comic for Liara fans I'm on the fence about whether I want to see a Liara DLC/Xpac.

It would be great to get a "well done" xpac that finally clears up everything and gets Liara's story back on track, and gives us the interaction with her we should have had in ME2 to start with.  On the other hand there is a very good chance we'll just get more of the same and they'll pretty much take any remaining virtues of the character and grind them into dust.

Heavy risk and a very uncertain prize lies down the path of additional Liara content for ME2.  I'm almost inclined to just leave things be and wrap myself up in warm memories of Liara and ME1 when I need a Mass Effect fix.

This is what worries me more than anything: that the DLC will make things worse instead of better.  And seriously, at this point, why should we assume otherwise?  Every comment out of Bioware since they shipped ME2 has been arrogant and self-congratulatory.  They honestly think they did everything right.  As Liara fans, we should all be bracing ourselves.  The worst might be yet to come.

I think most Liara fans are already on this boat.
