No, but a biotic shockwave can.
And the MIRV is great, so long as it's not broken. There aren't enough of them lying around to keep it in perfect working order, so firing it too much is bound to break it. It also takes a lot of punishment from enemy fire.
In close quarters, the Wanderer can do more damage, but Shepard's elbow can stun or knock down anyone he hits. So all he has to do is spam the ol' F key and keep the Wanderer locked down.

You've obviously never played Fallout 3 because VATs can get multiple shots in one go. With the deathclaw gauntlet one shot to the head will kill anything.

I have indeed played it, hence why I said 'round of VATs' not 'VATs attack.' But you are correct that the deathclaw gauntlet does a ridiculous amount of damage. Still, this is a bionically enhanced healily armored supersoldier with a personal force field, not some flimsy wasteland raider. It'd be close, but I think Shep has the edge.

count me in for that group but i think it was done intentionally. You're named the lone wanderer and you're stuck in this depressing location, you're dad's dead and every time you develop a bond with someone, something gets in the way and it never gets fulfilled so it adds to the depressing.
I think it's a combo of that and Bethesda never really doing the romance thing.
