No one is saying it is not a success. The confusion in the matter comes from the various articles released on the heels of ME2's launch. You know the headlines; 2+ million sold! 6.6million Sold! 6.6million Shipped!.

1.6million sold is a strong sales figure for a game.

Heh, you guys are funny.
You don't have to guess what Mass Effect 2 sales were. You don't have to guess what was said in the EA conference call based on reports all over the web. You can listen to it yourself.

At 6:55, it says:
"Mass Effect 2 sold through over 1.6 million packaged and digital units in the quarter for Europe and North America combined."

That means that between January and March 2010, over 1.6 million copies of Mass Effect 2 were delivered to the ungrateful little hands of gamers just like you. This is EA senior management telling investors what their total sales number was for the title. Any other number for Mass Effect 2 sales that doesn't align with this number is suspect.

but 1.6 Million is pretty impressive for any Microsoft exclusive title.

Halo
Gears
Forza
Fable

All of those frachises sold more on Xbox 360 alone. But seriously there is something fishy here. Most people on my Xbox live friend list has ME2 as a played game and i got all types of people on there, both casual and hardcore gamers. And they announced 2 millions shipped in the first 2 weeks, why ship that many if you haven't sold that many yet?

I bloody wish Atlus would do this more often. *grumbles about not being able to find a new copy of Persona 4 or Persona 3: FES*

Yeah I realize that but....does it really matter? Right now, the concrete number we have is 1.6 mill in 2 months. Let's say it's that.  Given that it's a success, do we really need to know exactly how sucessful it is? I love the game, it's critically acclaimed, and it sold well. That's enough for me.
