There are two good novels that can provide good material for a good movie:
I ME Revelation we have a young Lt. Anderson, a young Saren, Kahlee Sandres and her fahter.
Also batarians, krogans, elcor etc.
The story begins a little before the first contac war, when Shepard and his/her friends are nowhere near the horizon so, if well made, the movie could be the base for a franchise like Star Trek or Star Wars.
On the other hand is ME Ascension where we have Omega and the Migrant Fleet, a biotic girl, her father, Cerberus & TIM.
That novel begins a little after the battle of the Citadel and Shepard is mentioned only once at the begining of the fiirs chapter.
Both books have all we like of the game: mass relays, biotics, lots of action & aliens, space ships, futuristic weapons and so on.
I read not too long ago that another novel (can´t remember its name) is about to be released, if not already been, so a good producer will have a lot of good material to work without compromising the games.
PS: after watching Doom & Far Cry I perfectly understand the fears of many posters, I share them

Look at who the directors were for both those movies though. Uwe Boll and Andrzej Bartkowiak. Uwe Boll nothing else needs to be said beyond his name and Andrzej who is a cinematographer who somehow thought he could direct. He only managed to get his first three movies because DMX was trying to be an actor and needed someone that was willing to agree with him.

I think it all depends on how ME3 goes. At best, we can probably get an anime the likes of Dead Space: Downfall. I mean, if Halo (overrated, I know, but it is the biggest franchise on Xbox) can't get a full live-action movie out, then ME never will.
um... i dont know how i know this, but i know that there is gonna be a movie based off of halo: reach

One of the working titles for the Halo movie set for 2012 is Halo: Fall of Reach. I think thats probably what you're talking about. I doubt there would be a hollywood movie scheduled to be based on a game title that hasnt even been released yet.

Mass Effect is already cinematic with the added benefit of being able to mold your own character and make your own choices over a period of 30-40 hours.
Why ruin that by turning it into a shtty 2 hour film.
This.
