I think that in Mass Effect 3, we should be able to recruit a Collector squadmate. After all, at the end of Mass Effect 2 Harbinger relinquishes control of the race, and it's easy to assume that a few Collectors managed to survive due to being elsewhere when the base was attacked.

Now that they're not being controlled by a Reaper, the Collectors may revert to their original Prothean personalities, slightly. And since we don't know how long Collectors live, I think it would very interesting having a Collector on your team who was alive when the Reapers attacked the Protheans. It could give you valuable insight on the Reaper threat.

I just feel like Bioware went to a lot of pains to introduce the Collector race, revealing them to be Protheans and then not making much of an issue of it after that. Maybe they're saving it for a Mass Effect 3 squadmate.

Thoughts?

Any remnants of the Protheans (Other than DNA) has been totally obliterated. They are basically just like the Keepers, completely warped away from their true form and functions. Highly doubt there would be a squadmate. Besides, Legion provided the Shymalan twist in regards to recruitment.

Also the Collectors have no intelligence they're just tools. If any survived that ruined charred mass of what was once the Illusive Man's dreams they'll probably starve to death or of natural causes (since they don't have mouths anyway).

Really, they're just tools given no intelligence and commanded by a Reaper through proxy. The Collector's are no more, as it should be. What insight could a Collector drone have to share anyway?

Well, you never know, maybe there is some Prothean in stasis on some planet (or on the Citadel), like the ones on Ilos were. Regardless, I think the Protheans (or their technology) will still play some part in Mass Effect 3.

Why not? All those pods would need would be an reliable power source (obviosly unlike the one on Ilos).

I think about 12 survived on Ilos. Maybe those same 12 are still on the Citadel in stasis, being looked after by the Keepers. There is obviosly some big secret on the Citadel that still hasn't been revealed, maybe this is it. We will just have to wait for Mass Effect 3 and see.

Although there are doubts, it is probable that there is a prothean squadmate in Mass Effect 2. It is true that there has been no confirmination, but there are multiple possiblilies of there being one. For example: They can be found in stasis like in Ilos in a location such as on Mars, or the keepers could be covering up the existance of the remaining protheans, or there could even be a fossilized prothean found that could be in the process of being brought back to life during Mass Effect 2 by Cerberus, but was just kept top secret from everyone else including Shepard. Then in Mass Effect 3 the prothean could finally be complete but  becomes rogue and escapes from Cerberus.

Is there a link somewhere for confirmation to this?

Also, in the Art of the Mass Effect Universe book, there are pages containing confirmation of the prothean squad mate, as well as his entire look. SO YES THERE WILL BE A PROTEAN SQAUD MATE!!

Want more proof go to these links, they have real pics of the prothean squad member.
