Okay fellas, the idea of being able to create an infinite amount of content for myself is a very appealing thought, and I like creating things (Warcraft 3 maps have been something I've been working with for years).

I am just wondering, would it be worth getting the editor for someone that's casual about it? It seems unbelievably complex to me, with being able to edit the model meshes of monsters, the code and whatnot. Could someone like me easily adapt to it, or is it something that I'd only be able to get any value out of by pouring a lot of effort into it?

with the toolset you are only able to edit the faces and no meshes. you can create you own story, your own levels, your own items and so on. it's complex but far from opaque. in the end you can group up with others so you don't have to be a master of all trades.

it's worth to take a look at, especially if you are interested in modding. you could just create maps (levels) like for warcraft and provide them to other module creators who are looking for that kind of stuff.

It's free, so all you have to lose is the time and the bandwidth required to download it. It has a pretty steep learning curve, but as -Semper- said, you don't have to learn how to do everything. Grab it and have a look through some of the various tutorials here and elsewhere.
