Since I haven't seen a thread like this yet...

Am I the only one who wants male Shepard to have the "long hair" option? It being unavailable in ME was reasonable, since you were in the Army (Army? Corps? whatever Americans call it), but I think it should already have been available in Mass Effect 2.

Are there any particular programming issues that prevent this from being implemented? I don't think so. Big bad EA does not want it to be implemented? I don't think so.

So why must we be stripped of another possible layer of character customization that many games (including BW's very own Dragon Age) already have? And don't say that long hair has become unfashionable in 2185 because all those different staches sure as hell aren't all popular .

You hear me Bioware? Long hair for male Shep in Mass Effect 3! Make it happen!

This was covered in ME, no long hair for males as he was part of the military. Even cerberus has a military organigram, you could say it is possible

If it is a military thing, then why do we have options to give Shepard thick goatees and facial hair? Arent there military guidelines against these as well?

When heads are chopped off with swords and axes long hair can be stylish. Especially if you are as badass as King Cailan. But in an age of guns and aliens, it doesn't have that same style.

That is unless you are King Cailan who could have such hair in any time period and still be awesome.

i just hate the short hair style. why do all of them have to be so short. maybe it doesn't have to be pony tail long but at least add some more hair options. the male hair styles to choose from are really bad.

As much as I'd like a haircut that wasn't 'buzzcut' or 'shorter buzzcut' (hell, I'd even settle for something like Khayness's avatar has, just bangs or something shaggy), it's not gonna happen because hair is really badly modelled in the ME games. Anything longer than chin length clips horrendously; unless you animate the hair model, you have two choices with long hair--anchor it to the neck and shoulders or model it freely. The first means that whenever the character turns their head it gets really stretched and bizarre-looking, warping the texture (and causes problems for changing armor). The second means that the hair will clip through neck and shoulders whenever the character turns their head. There are ways around it (I've seen some really talented Sims modders), but it takes a lot of work, and the engine ME uses just isn't good at hair.

There's actually a pretty clear story justification for this, military or not.







All astronauts need to have short hair because it's impossible to fit long hair in a space helmet without it being designed to specially accommodate it. Shepard has to wear a sealed pressure helmet from time to time, thus his hair must be kept short for that purpose.

Mmm, but Femshep can have chin-length loose hair and longer in a ponytail/bun. Don't see why Manshep can't have similar. I don't think anyone's asking for flowing waist-length locks, just something that isn't a buzzcut or flat and greasy.
