Any hints and tips in role playing as a female character ? I've always had problems role playing as one. I find role playing as a male easier cause I'm a male, now trying to be a female character is a little more harder than I expected it to be.

About the only difference is in the dialogue. Gameplay is pretty much the same for female as for male. In dialogue, the big difference is in the romance options. Some lines will get you into a romance with several of your npc's...not all at once, of course. If you don't want a romance just pick the non-committal answers, and you can still be friends. Alistair and Zevron are the chief romances for females, but if you want you can romance Leliana. I'm not sure about Morrigan, because I never tried.

Female PC's get more "persuade" options with regards to male NPC's and you get to flirt with some NPC's.

Gameplay outside of relationships is much the same as male PC's.

I have a feeling that you're not talking about gameplay...so, let's see.... Your female character will want the same things that your male character does; to be liked and admired by those she respects, and to foil the plans of those she doesn't. While you can make her reactions and motivations more peaceful/diplomatic than some of your male characters, it would be equally plausible to make her violent and sarcastic, especially if you're playing out a romance. I don't know if you've noticed, but women can be absolutely vicious when things/people they care about are threatened. ;)

In any case, the differences might not be as great as you imagine. All people want friends and love, all people want to win. etc.

If you're having trouble with the romance aspect and playing a character who is romancing one of your own gender, I'd try identifying with the romance interest for that bit, rather than your PC.

Playing as a female, for the most part, was the same as playing as a male except for the obvious comments made by NPCs. Romancing a companion and/or getting attached to the character is a different story.

With regards to the romances, I've noticed that the male companions tend to be more aggressive about pursuing a romance. At one point, I had Alistair, Zevran and Leliana all wanting a piece of my Dalish a**. Zevran more forward with his innuendos. Alistair came right up and kissed me and asked if it was too soon. Leliana, of course, ninja'd me.

lol I never had Leliana ninja me, but I imagine as soon as you enter camp you have no choice in the matter.

Play as you would a man, only make better decisions...  :D

You have three main romantic choices: Alistair, Lelianna and Zevran. Alistair is cute and somewhat shy (A gentleman). Zevran will pursue sex early but does take 'no' for an answer without offense. He will have sex without love. Love comes later (similar to Morrigan). Lelianna falls for you early but likes a slow courtship. You need to be firm but polite with her if you are not interested in a romance.

As for flirtations, the popular one is Bann Teagan. You can have sex with Cammen, if you want to earn the scorn of every player in the game. In the Human origin, both Dairren and Iona are options for a one night stand. Isabella is an option for both a one night stand and/or an orgy. In the mage origin, you can flirt with Cullen. He has a lot to say about you later. The rescue changes in the City Elf origin. The dwarf origins alter slightly.

Other than that, there are some slight changes throughout the game in dialogue. You'll find most armour looks slightly silly.

Being a female and roleplaying one, I found that some convo options put me in flirtation territory when I meant 'sarcastic' or 'silly' in my head. :)

I think the biggest thing you can do, regardless of what gender/race you play, is think about that particular character's background and motivations. A dwarf commoner might tell Cailan the 'human overlord' lines while a noble would know that's not appropriate, for example.

A female, especially one who was raised to be a warrior, might not necessarily react differently than a man might. Or maybe she would. :) You get to decide that!

I find roleplaying as a female exactly thesame as roleplaying as a male. However, that might be because I create a complete persona for each character before the beginning of the game.

If you don't do that (and most people don't), then you might be filling in the gaps in your character with your own personality, and if you view those aspects of your personality as male then they'll probably feel odd when you're playing a female character.

So, I suggest you do more background preparation. What does your character want? What does she want that? What made her feel that way? And then ask those questions about everything. When you have answers, then you're ready to roleplay as a female.

I think it's easier. Usually my male characters just end up being me... it's easier for me to keep my personality separate from my character with a female, if that makes sense.

I find this question strange and hard to relate to. But maybe that's because I'm gay so I can see things from both perspectives quite easily.

Not talking about gameplay, I just noticed I had a few more achievements to get to 100% such as getting alistar in bed and stuff.

I talking about the immersion factor.

I tend towards more emotion filled replies in dialogue with a female Warden, such as "That's horrible!" and the like. But not much difference as a whole.

Perhaps you could select the most expensive option in each shop, and then return later when you have changed your mind? *chuckles in jest*

:oI didnt know about those options! Oh and I thought I had gone down every road possible! Hehe Image IPB

I also have never ended up with Isabella doing naughty stuff but usually by the time I meet her my character and Alistair are 'involved' and I just don't like to try those lines. Lol

But I think I will go back to some of my previous games and try those options. Image IPB

PS  Poor Fyezall,Image IPB it will be a short life for you....

My only suggestion -- and this is speaking generally -- is that as a female PC, try for the win-win option as much as possible. Women tend to go for consensus whenever possible. Guys don't mind having winners and losers so much. Again generally speaking, always room for variation.

DA:O does have a few instances where a female PC might react more deeply than a male (although this is not a blanket rule by any stretch).

Romance aside, there were only two real moments that stuck out to me from a female player's perspective that might affect a woman PC more deeply than a man PC...namely the broodmother (what darkspawn try to turn captured women into) and the city elf origin.

To role-play a female character, just try to put yourself in their boots. High-heeled, steel-toed or otherwise. I don't remember many (any?) non-party member NPCs that hit on you unless you invite it, so it's not like walking around with boobs is going to innundate your game with wolf-whistles ;)
