Read a bit daily on the bus to university and back. Amazing. Michio Kaku is a true genius.

Just finished reading "Royal Assassin" by Robin Hobb. I've never felt so depressed before in my entire life, and it's the first time I wish I could erase a book, its plot, its characters, from memory.

A Song of Ice and Fire
Just finished A Feast for Crows, and I'm going to pick up A Dance with Dragons at some point this week.

I need a new series to read. Haven't found anything I find interesting lately. So I need suggestions.
As examples of what I've read and enjoyed immensely:
WoT
Ericsons Malazan series (Esslemont's books, not so much)
Michelle West's Sun Sword series (I'm currently waiting for the next book of the House War series)
Janny Wurts Wars of Light and Shadow series (if you haven't read it, I highly recommend it - not finished yet, though)
GRRM aSoIaF
Anne Bishops Black Jewels series (and related books)
Examples of series which I found okay:
Brent Weeks Night Angel trilogy
L. E. Mondessit's Recluse series
S.M Stirling's Island in the Sea of Time (pretty good alternate universe kind of thing)
Eddings Belgariad and Malorean series
Examples of series I find awful:
Robin Hobbs Tawny Man, Liveship Traders, and Farseer trilogies (Liveship Traders was the best of the bunch, IMO, which isn't saying much)
Bakker's Prince of Nothing (finished it, not sure why)
Goodkinds Sword of Trash (finished it because I'm a masochist, I guess)
Donaldson's Thomas Covenant series (couldn't finish it . . just couldn't take it anymore)
Obviously, I stay mostly in the fantasy genre, but I also branch into horror (Stephen King is God, btw, and yes, I read and loved the Black Tower series). I like a book (or series) with a plot, with good writing, and characters that are not caricature's.
Any help? I don't mind if it's 10 books or 3 or a stand alone, finished or unfinished. But damn do I need something new to read.

How about Anne Bishop's Tir Alainn trilogy or the Ephemera books? Although you may have already read those since you enjoyed the Black Jewels series so much (my favourite book series btw).

Currently next to my computer and throughly highlighted, is an article titled: Harry Potter is the new Jesus for the 21st Century. Most of it is written facetiously but the parallels are written seriously.

Read both of those as well. I think Bishop is a great writer. Book 3 of the Ephemera series is set for march 2012 btw, I believe.
I decided to do a re-read of the Deed of Paksenarrion - very good story, IMO, although a bit cliche. Something to kill time while I keep looking for new things. . . . .

Hopefully the medieval jargon and latin references will be easier to follow on a second reading.
