OT: I finally ordered Blood of Elves by Sapkowski. Time to see if his writing is as good as that in the games.

I really enjoyed the books. Though The Last Wish is probably a better starting point. Yennefer > Triss.

OT: I'm between books. I can't decide what I'm in the mood for so just reading a book about The Beast of the Bray Road until something tickles my fancy.

I didn't really like Sapkowski's book, at least the parts with Yennefer. The monster fighting was interesting. They're like collections of folktales but with Geralt as the hero.

I found a couple of the short stories a little dull but it's all well written and the stories are all very different and provide a good background to Geralt in their own ways.

The first flashback story links strongly with The Witcher 1 and the last one with Yennefer is great.

Isn't the second novel (ie sequel to Blood of Elves) getting an English translation release some point this year? I haven't read Blood of Elves yet but I might wait and read them back to back if it's out soon.

Survivors, true stories of children in the holocaust.

Major bummer, which isn't so great if you get emotional on public transport, but interesting!

Aye its supposed to be out in December according to amazon but it was originally slated for August and August last year and August the year before.... It's turning into a Guns N' Roses album with all the set backs.

It was, Bourdain has had a very interesting life. Easily one of the few celebrities I'm always interested to hear talk about what he's done. A seriously interesting guy.

I'm now re-reading
If You Meet The Buddha On The Road, Kill Him! by Sheldon B. Kopp.

This is easily one of the best case study books I have ever read. While this is only my second reading, I can already see there are passages of wisdom that I overlooked upon my first reading, and am really impressed with this man's attitude towards people and their problems. Definitely not a molly coddling type of psychologist, he easily sees the entrapment of providing help to the helpless and shows how a person can make themselves a victim, but a victim unto themselves and no one else. Its a book that really makes you think.

On to Dostoevsky's The Brothers Karamazov tonight.. Still waiting for some Robert A. Heinlein books to arrive that I bought on Amazon. I've read Stranger in a Strange Land and Moon is a Harsh Mistress this month. I really dig his writing style.

I was reading a book called Vaporetto 13, but then things happened and I forgot about it. And where I was.

Good book too, from the chapters I did read.

Finished Desperation by Stephen King and was only mildly disappointing. It was pretty awesome up until the middle, then it kinda went from a 9 to a 7 from there ;( I also finished 11/22/63 (also by Stephen King) and it was pretty awesome :D slow at times, but definitely a great read. Yesterday I read Blind Fall by Christopher Rice, and it was pretty bleh.

Am now reading Mass Effect: Revelation :D
