Finally decided to start "The Tale of Genji" and I'm already confused. This is going to be a long book, but luckily I like Japanese culture.

Ignore all of this. That book was compeletly confusing, and I'm going to need a lot of free time to read it. So instead I decided to read "Eat, Pray, Love" and it's great so far. I hope to finish it before the movie comes out.

Finishing up Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters.  I think The Name of the Wind will be up next, but I haven't decided yet.

Really?! I am sooo disappointed in you Steel Moon!  lol  How dare they do that to Jane Austen!

I'm with you.  My friend got it for me for Christmas though, so I'm obliged.  I can tell that the author is trying to be funny but it just isn't working for me. Image IPB

Ahh ok.. I won't hold it against you then Image IPB

Metro 2033 while I await my copy of ME: Retribution which amazon have delayed until the 24th. Its good so far but bit of a slow read and can get confusing with all the station names in Russian. Its got a map though and I do enjoy a good map.

:o Why thank you informative stranger. Although Retribution works out slightly more expensive there I do see some good bargains, now to find some cash....

Yeah, the book depository is a good place to buy - I use it often. What makes their prices really competitive is that they don't charge you for shipping, even to locations outside the UK. So the price of the book is the price you pay to get it, no additional costs.

I should pick up on my long-abandoned thread! Thank you all for your suggestions. I finished the Song of Ice and Fire series and am eagerly awaiting the HBO series. I really recommend the short story "The Hedge Knight" in Dreamsongs Vol. 2. It is a prequel to ASoIaF, set in the time of the Targaryens. I am also pretty absorbed in a teleplay in that volume called "Doorways." I read recently on GRRM's Livejournal site that this might be picked up for filming.

In the wings I have waiting Jim Butcher's Furies of Calderon.

I'm interested to see what you think of the Furies of Calderon, that's one of my favorite series.

I've only gotten two pages in and got distracted.  Image IPB  Ooh, shiny!  I still have it, though.

I read far too many things at one time -- I'm re-reading some GGK, Tigana, and listening to the The Spook's Apprentice series on my commute (NOT to be confused with the Sorcerer's Apprentice!). I'm also reading  the Tamir Trilogy books by Lynn Flewelling. And when I get it in the mail, I'll be reading Jim Butcher's latest in the Dresden Files series.

What is GGK?

If I might request from all the thread peeps, a little description of the books you post unless they're really well-known.  It will save Google time if I can get an idea first if it will be something I'd dig.

Re-reading one of Terry Pratchett's books. If anyone on these forums hasn't tried him before now, you're missing a few geek points.
