I am not really that far into it yet but I am starting to see what you mean.
Still, I hate it to leave a book unfinished..

Fair enough. You can only review it once you've read it. If you want, check my review on Goodreads (link on my sig) after you've read it and drop me a line on what you thought (or make your own review, I'd love to read what you thought of it).

Doing a survey of American Civil War secondary literature. Just broke out Allen Guelzo's Fateful Lightning. It seems like a solid overall text, good successor to the likes of Battle Cry of Freedom as a single-volume overview of the war and Reconstruction.

Working on Sheri S. Tepper's Sideshow, after reading Grass and The Raising of the Stones. Great stuff. I wasn't surprised to hear she's written horror as well; some moments (in Grass especially) have a horror-ish vibe to them.

A Traveler's History of England. I'm going there as part of a study abroad trip this summer.

Maybe this is just me, but why do you want to visit England for? I find nothing interesting here unless you visit the countryside during winter or summer, I find England boring. I always wondered why tourists even come to London, unless you visit M&M world, worth the visit.

In summer, we get rapeseed blooming all over the farm fields, bright yellow everywhere you look (we have a hill we could stand on). Venture in the forests and you will be ankle deep in bluebells which look beautiful or you see these white flowers instead.

During the winter, the sky is always clear during the night and with all the fields covered in snow, the moon light reflects off the snow and glows beautifully. Sunrise and sunset just as beautiful as well, aside from this, there isn't much going for England IMHO.

I'm much happier living in Asia.

Mousestalker, do you only purchase books with suggestive cover art?

And I recently started Huxley's Brave New World.

I've started reading it about two months ago and it sort of lost my interest quite a few times. The first two books kept me hooked pretty much from start to end. I'll have to sit down and finish it one of these days.

Still haven't finished Catcher In The Rye, but working on it. That book gets reeeeealy weird around the second half, if it wasn't weird enough as is. Still a great read, I got a big bang out of it. Very Big deal.

'Raising Steam,' a Discworld novel featuring none other than Moist von Lipwig, released today on Kindle. Has anyone had a chance to read it?

Read that for the very first time a few years ago. Because it is classic I always intended to get around to it some day but I kept putting it off, I eventually picked it up after watching Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex for the very first time. I'm glad I read it and overall I enjoyed it but I do feel that it is over rated. The subject matter is brilliant although it could have been written better, I do remember it being a bit weird.

After months ( or is that years now ) of putting it off I just started reading "Gone Girl". Time to see if it lives up to the hype although so far so good.
