Working on Sheri S. Tepper's Sideshow, after reading Grass and The Raising of the Stones. Great stuff. I wasn't surprised to hear she's written horror as well; some moments (in Grass especially) have a horror-ish vibe to them.

I love her stuff. Grass and Raising the Stones were the first two of hers that I ever read. After that I went on a bit of a Tepper rampage.

Currently juggling my reading time between Jim Holt's Why Does the World Exist? and Stephen R. Donaldson's The Last Dark.

After grabbing everything I could off the internet in terms of eBooks, the last thing I read was Clive Barker's Books of Blood. It's a romantic comedy featuring a hot young whippersnapper named Josephat XII who meets his other half in a hot dog eating contest. It's beautiful...

Nah just kidding, it's pretty spooky. Still a great read, though.

Read a bit of it, though I'm gonna put my focus on Palahniuk's Survivor first. Snow Crash is awesome cyberpunk.

A Song of Ice and Fire - Storm of Swords (again ... already read everything, but I had six weeks of no internet so I started to read everything again).

Has anyone read the Spinward Fringe series? Is it any good?

Yes. Yes and no. The writing is very uneven especially in the first books and definitely needs a good editor. Having said that the author still manages to convey everything he wants to and there are some great sequences which more than make up for the weak bits. I've bought up to fragment 7 and been very happy with the purchase. Since Origins is free, there's nothing to stop you trying it out.

Really enjoying it so far. Always loved suburbia-gone-wrong stuff.

And before this I read

Which is now one of my all-time favorite novels.

So far I've been eminently amused by the fact that one of the main powerhouses of what's left of the U.S. economy (although the U.S. proper no longer exists in Snow Crash) seems to involve pizza. I started reading it last night a bit before dinner, which was, as it always is on Saturday...pizza! Hehe.
