I felt the same way when i started MT after the fast paced House of Chains. The first 70+ pages were terrible to read since the plot moved at a snail's pace, while the Tiste Edur are flippin boring. Once the Letheri Empire and Tehol are introduced the plot shines. Despite the awful pacing in the beginning this book is a must read because it sets the stage for one the greatest *spoiler* in fantasy, and so much crazy **** goes down in this one. Just persevere because 'The Priiize' k. Currently this is my 3rd fav Malazan book, with only 'Deadhouse Gates' and 'Memories of Ice' surpassing it.I am still struggling to get through the fourth book, Midnight Tides, in the Malazan Books of the Fallen series by Steven Erikson.
I was enjoying the series up until that book. I generally dislike "prequel-esque" novels in the middle of a book series, and it's taking me FOREVER (about two years now) to actually finish it.
When I read pdf books and wikipedia pages about history as NOVEL.

Finally getting around to this slowly.

It's cool.
But the use of the term 'the Game' is getting annoying.
Yes, we get it. But can you use other words that don't sound so showy?
Intrigues, for example, that's a good word.
(Yes I know it's an Orlesian term.)
Otherwise the prose is solid and it flows really well.
