Wrex is one of my favorites, so I am down with this. I do think he will play cameo-land for ME3 though as I see him rallying the Krogan for our cause.

I don't see why Wrex *couldn't* be a returning squad member. I have a sneaking suspicion that most of the new squad mates we get are going to be important and influential people that can aid Shepard with massive armies and fleets to take down the reapers. I mean look how influential some of his/her current squad members are amongst their people. Legion and Tali I'm sure will be key to resolving the Geth/Quarian conflict, Liara's the freakin' Shadow Broker. I don't see why someone who is as powerful as Aria T'Loak couldn't become a squad member, if that's the case.

Mass Effect 3:

Shepard is cornered, surrounded by husks and scions, out of heat sinks and medigel and waiting for his powers to cool down. Ashley and that one new guy he recruited are down. He can't get to them. He feels the prickling of indoctrination on his mind as his enemies come closer, closer...

BOOM! A hole appears in the far wall, and the mighty warriors of clan Urdnot come spilling through. With a mighty roar, they charge as one, tearing through Harbinger's army like bowling ball through tissue paper. There is chaos for a moment, and when the dust finally clears the krogan are standing tall, their leader posed proudly atop a fallen scion.

He turns his scarred face towards the human Spectre, his red eyes unblinking. He utters one word:

"Shepard."

"Wrex."

I don't mind Wrex not being a squadmate, but I totally want him to play a major role in the 3rd game.

I thought of an idea for the wrex is "dead" problem. For future dlc purposes or hopefully a squadmate for ME3. His clone could be Urdnot Wreav but if Wrex is tagged as alive in your playthrough he can become a squadmate again.

I also like to see more of Wrex. I think he's a far more interesting character than Grunt. Liked the fellow even better than Garrus. In my first maleshep career, he survived Virmire, and was perhaps the crew member I counted on most for beating Saren & Co. But I aborted this career in ME2 for redesign purposes even before meeting Miranda. The second time I reached ME2 from ME1, it was with a femshep career and different decisions which resulted in Wrex not making it out of Virmire. I was still disappointed how little the memory of Wrex figured in ME2. I've gotten the impression that even when Wrex is alive in ME2, his role is the smallest of all there, so small that you don't even get to see him again.

But today I saw a video which suggests I was wrong about the "Wrex not even showing up in ME2" part. His role may still be the smallest of all former and current team mates. I wish this to change for ME3. But as he's killable in ME1, I suspect we won't see him much in ME3, either.

While I feel the same way, it would appear that Wrex has had his time on the screen. He is a great anti-hero, yet not much more than that. I do hope that he gets an expanded role, but I am personally not holding out on it.

Who knows, he might lead the krogan charge against the Reapers when it happens. I'm sure he'll get his cameo.

It's a sad thing that he's just a cameo in ME2 and possibly in ME3, Wrex is such a well-made character, the ideal Krogan. It's not about his skills but the feeling when you have him fight alongside.
Some small tributes I made for Wrex:

Him and his clan better kick some Reaper ass in the third. It was bad enough to have Grunt take away Wrex's awesome Thresher Maw kill.

I support this. Getting the handshake/hug thing from Wrex is THE crowning moment of the ME2 reunion.... not to mention Wrex calls him/her a friend....

and I doubt not a lot of people get that....

Probably my favorite character in the series thus far, and he's dead in the default.  Relegated to little more than a cameo in ME2.  I keep reading all of this talk about Kaiden and Ashley DLC.  I would prefer to see some Wrex DLC.

Wrex has got big plans for ME3. I know it, and that's why I saved the genophage cure even though I play more or less full renegade. However, busy as he is, I still hope with all my heart he'll make a comeback as a squaddie for those of us who saved him.

Considering Wrex is one of the most popular characters, and he probably has the east hate out of all the squaddies, his threads aren't the most popular?
Same with Legion. Craziness...
And Cheeze's art is real great, very accurate. Wish I could draw...
