This is one of my biggest problems with the DLC. It takes a character that I roleplayed as a human being with flaws like any of the other characters and elevates them to the position of a walking, talking deus ex machina without whom the world invariably ends and no good decision is made. It ignores the objections of the companions and the fact that they may be willing to sacrifice their lives to prevent certain events and makes it all about you (the PC).

Doesn't it make it so you are important? As the AI is downright retarded, only a big mob or a small one with a boss can take down the party. Also, they were many moments in my file that the companions, without the DLC, they lost to Darkspawn. Yet we only have vague ideas of the possiblities. Besides, the world is gonna end, we just delayed it.

I'm still gonna trade DA and Awakening so I get Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner 2, seems more fun than Dragon Age.

I'm still hoping that come the 18th, Bioware will say 'Heh, massive joke, here's the real DLC' and put out something with plot. You know, the stuff Bioware is known for. If I just wanted to kill a bunch of people, I'd play MW2 or Halo: Reach.

Heck, if the combat system on the consoles wasn't so below par, a more hack and slash DLC might not be too bad. Ah well, at least I can save some points. I feel pretty bad, though, having not bought either Awakenings or this. Usually I snap up anything Bioware created at launch.

Sure, there is a subset of Bioware fans who read every single line of the codex, get really involved with their companions, and who love the Biowarean writing style.

However, the marketing people probably determined that more people bought the game for hack and slash than for the writing/story. Remember the action-packed trailer with Marilyn Manson blaring in the background?  They catered their whole advertising towards that crowd.

The majority are casual fans who want to "kill a bunch of people" as you put it.  They're going to get more money from the casual crowd, so obviously, they will cater to them when it comes to DLC. As they say, business is business, so try not to take it too personally.

There's also a subset of fans who really enjoyed the hundreds(!) of hours of roleplaying Dragon Age has offered so far, but don't mind a 1-off optional pure combat adventure. Assuming it doesn't become a permanent trend :)

I might consider playing it if my game didn't crash every 10 minutes... but hey why should Bioware fix game stopping bugs when there's money to be made selling mindless hack and slash.

I'm not the least interested in playing a darkspawn antihero. Mindless killing doesn't interest me at all, nor do I want to see my friends from Origins butchered for the enjoyment of those who play games just for the pleasure of killing. I will not be buying this dlc, hopefully the next one will be a true rpg that enhances the story started in DA"Origins

That trailer did get me pretty pumped, though it mostly served to showcase DAO's dated graphics.
