Mass Effect is a trilogy based on one particular persons adevnture. I am not sure if this is the same intention for future Dragon Age games.
Whilst it is always cool to have a carry through save with the same character being in the next game. I think its just as good creating a new character for a new story.

My main problem of using the same character is that you are high level and end up with too many crazy abilities and spells and its hard to justify such a powerful character , or they have to make up some silly reason you start as a weakling again with the same char.

That said, there are definite positives and negatives on both sides. Poll away!

With both origins and awakening behind him it feels like theres really nothing new for the Warden-Commander, his story has been done already. Besides whats the next challenge? The Maker has been corrupted by the darkspawn taint and you have to kill him?
No, its time for a new characters story. Which I look forward to.

Especially when the unknown is simply "unknown".

Just about the only task that one of my mage Wardens would find challenging is the following: "Warden, the darkspawn have succeeded in tainting the Sun. We need you to drive them off and restore it to its former glory. Also, could you do something about the Black City?"
Far more fun to start from scratch.

Even though it might require a somewhat silly plot device to make it happen, I would maybe prefer to have my original Warden knocked back to a lower level rather than playing a godlike destructor.
I would love to see some continuation of Morrigan's tale.
Also aside from that I just wanted to say that as a newcomer to the DA community, whenever I come to these forums I am impressed with how passionate everyone is about these games and the way members of the dev team engage the community here. Even though there's a lot of complaints and slamming of Bioware and so on happening on the boards, they're cool enough to give us this place to express our opinions and interract and I think it's awesome.

After DA1, 5 out of the 7 old gods are defeated. It would only make sense for the remaining two to be in the next two games, assuming that there will be 3 dragon age games. Blights are usually centuries apart, so it would only make sense to have a whole new cast, unless you'd have to fight two arch demons in one of the games. That would be an interesting scenario...

While I appreciate the sentiment, what you're asking is "do you want to continue the character you're already emotionally invested in or opt for the unknown?" Since the unknown could be anything and has no associations (beyond abandoning the known) I think most people are going to see it as a net negative-- so it's not really a fair comparison unless you have some idea what the alternatives might actually end up being.
That said, there are definite positives and negatives on both sides. Poll away!
So, in the interest of keeping the poll fair and all that, care to maybe give us some ideas on what said alternatives might be?

You also have to consider gameplay in which the game simply plays better at lower levels. Getting the challenge level right when a character has so many high level powers, without making the game too tedious, is just something I don't think can be done. Awakenings demonstrated how difficult this is.
So for story and gameplay purposes I feel very strongly that the game will be much better with a new character and story. It would be quite cool to see hints at what happened afterwards in regards to the world, but it shouldn't be the central focus.

No, it's not.

I see some of the gentlemen over at the 'We want to find Morrigan' thread have had their say!

a) Keeping playing at levels 40+ with a system that burned out it's options at level 25 and keep gathering ridiculous talents
Answer - meh.

In NWN, I have many different characters that I have devolped over the last 8 years. Each has their own story behind them.
A change is good for all of us.

From a story perspective, still, new character. I would probably play another expansion with this one, but Thedas is big... playing new origins (pretty please?) with new characters from a new setting would be interesting.

i doubt the next game is going to be in Ferelden anyways. Majority of what I've done in Ferelden shouldn't have any effect if I'm wandering around in Orlais or Antiva.

Nowhere does it say we need to import him. He could just be a possible origin fo DA2.
