Played it for a bit today i was not really impressed with the horse controls a little on the clunky side, apart from that a very engrossing experience ..

Yeah, just about everything in RDR has a bit of a learning curve, but once you figure things out it's all pretty manageable.

Horses control better as the game goes on.  The more time you spend with a single horse, the more they trust you, and the better they react to your commands.

Same here I think mine was about $100 but i gunned down the witnesses and it disapeared. Dunno if that makes me an awful outlaw or an awesome one though.

My brother got his up to $4000.

I think I've gotten up to about $2000, it's pretty easy if you just ride into town, kill a bunch of people in dead eye, and then ride out before you get too much heat.

Does anyone know if you have to break the other two 3-star horses (American something-something and Hungarian half-bred) out in the wild before you can buy deeds to them, or does it unlock later? If they have to be broken, where can I find them?

That Kentucky Saddler that opens up in one of the early missions is too Lucky Luke for me.

You have to break them, yes. The Hungarian Half-bred is only found in Mexico, and the Amercan Standardbred is only available once you get to West Elizibeth. I think you can find them with any group of wild horses in those regions, nothing too specific.

Finally finished the storyline....this game is very good. If you like story mixed in your game, you should like this. Soundtrack is great, a little too much of the "go-fetch" missions, but the main storyline makes up for it.

Yeah I thought the story and characters were excellent. All except one character who cant be mentioned for spoiler reasons.

Well first get the elegant suit so you can cheat and then just play conservatively. For all but a few opponents, you can generally bully them with aggressive small re-raises. That is if they just continue to check. If they start raising you, chances are they have a hand and you should just fold unless you've got something strong.

I love the Texas Hold'Em but find myself playing Blackjack more. I like how my chips in Blackjack equal the money earned/lost. You can pick up and go at anytime without losing your buy-in.

Problem is I don't know how to play. I don't even know what a "hand" is(can you believe it?).

That is a bit of a problem, you might not want to play in that case, but your hand is essentially just the combination of cards you have. Colloquially, the phrase "having a hand" refers to have a strong combination of cards like two pair or a flush. You can find the different significant combinations here:

http://en.wikipedia....wiki/Poker_hand

Generally just go for the minimum raise and if they raise you then fold unless you have at least a very strong pair (Jacks or better) or two pair. At least that's the way I play and unless I get cocky I can generally pull out the win, that is if you cheat of course, cheating is a good idea.

I'm just gonna jump in here to talk about a bizarre, yet humorous bug I found.

On one mission you are getting attacked while on a raft. I thought it might be a good idea to take cover over a couple boxes on the raft. Hey they had to be there for a reason. But when I went over and pressed the cover button John Marston was immediately shot straght into the air (like he was being pulled through the TV screen) and I got a mission failure.

Frustrating at first, but hilarious in hindsight.

My next attempt at the mission was a bit more frustrating when a damn guy with dynamite who I knocked down with a shot (who then I saw on the hud was not dead so I waited for him to get buck up, only to have him get back up when I was facing the opposite direction) threw one piece of dynamite onto the boat knocking us down then all of a sudden immediately two or three more explosions rang out killing us. Another mission failure.

I'll get it on the third try but that one bug (and I think the second one was also a bug, but not a funny one) was quite humorous and the kind I like to find randomly.

I think I had the second one happen to me as well, getting knocked down by the dynamite might as well be game over, as you're not likely to get up from that. The first one is pretty funny though, RDR has a lot of strange quirks, if you will.

I was working on the final hunting challenge in the game, and one of the animals I was looking for spawned in front of me about sixty feet in the air, and promptly fell to its doom.

I was still able to skin it and claim my reward, though.

Yeah, I stuffed up the raft mission with Irish the first time I tried it because I kept getting knocked down by a dynamiter, though Irish died rather than me. At least on the second try you know where they appear and can unload on them from a distance until you see their dot vanish.

I have to say though, that Springfield Rifle you get on that mission is awful because of how you seem to stay up for 1-2 seconds after letting go of aim while you're shooting from cover. I wound up switching back to the Winchester.

Theres supposed to be a really cool song plays right after the raft ride but neither me or my brother got it to play.

I had the whole Marsten looking like he was being pulled out of the screen bug too only I got it a couple of times while riding into Blackwater, he was yanked right off his horse a couple of times. Then it would happen without him moving but the camera acting like it had happened. It was bizarre and hilarious.

I also experienced the cover bug when John gets shot up into the air and then mission failure.

Druss: that song is "Far Away".

Like I said, the soundtrack was pretty good for the game.

Yeah I got the Limited Edition with the soundtrack. Its a pretty good song I just heard people raving about how atmospheric it is when it plays after the raft section but it never happened for me.

An even better song is the Dead Mans Gun by Ashtar Command thats also on the soundtrack, I loved that song.
