Look at those two bits prortuding from either side of head. (Only one can be seen in this image)

And the other is visible here.

Compare to the head of Garrus...

And Nihlus.

I'm confused. No other turians seem to have them but Saren. Help?

Never really understood this myself.

Could be an age thing, maybe other Turians do have them we just never met any or, what I chalk it up to, needing to make him stand out as a villain as much as possible. :P

"Gee Saren, you're looking particularly... blue-eyed and metallic today."

I assumed it had something to do with the Cybernetic implants he had, I'm curious too.

Just to clarify, I do mean the...piece that goes behind his black hood in the first image, not the metallic stuff on the side of his jaw. (Though the "piece" I mean does look slightly metallic)

But yes, I agree it may be an age thing. I don't see how he'd purposefully develop it.

I doubt it's cybernetic, as he has them on the cover of Revelation, and he doesn't have his geth-arm there.

Well some humans have very big ears, perhaps something like that? Or perhpas they just wanted him to look different in a villainous way.

You can see them on all of the turians. Sure Saren's are longer and more pronounced, but you know what they say about big cheek-scale things. Garrus has them but they don't particularly protrude, Nihlus's are longer than Garrus, but now where near the length of Sarens.

Saren needs to lay off the RGH (Reaper Growth Hormones).

Have a better look at the pics, and you will see they all have them, only the position on their heads changes. Saren has his extending from his eyes, garrus and nihlus over the tops of their heads. Saern also has extra dangly bits on his chin as well. I just put it down to the turian version of racial differences.

Same as how our hair is different across the various races; african - tightly curled hair, causasian - wavy hair, asian - straight hair. The turians could have chin danglies, eye spikes or whatever according to environmental pressures.

I dunno. If they all gave them, his are certainly much more pronounced. And they protrude from a different angle from what I can see. No, that explanation is unacceptable, simply unacceptable!:o

Probably Saren is a member of a rare Turian subspecies.

Agreed. It's a visual storytelling device. Otherwise, he is of a rarer subsect of Turians or the other Turians with similar fringes hang out with the Turian females.

Saren is female 0_o?

the protruding fringes are most likely there to signify advanced age and as a convenient way of distinguishing saren form the other turans. evil has to have a face and it has to be ugly

Also...he has a more human-like body. Check out his hips for instance. Other turians have that weird leg-paisted-to-waist thing going on. Saren doesn't.

Nah, that's just who Turians that look like Saren hang out with. We won't see them until we see the females.

I'd like to buy the advanced age concept, but then I would have expected Turians like General Septimus to have them.

That's more just his armour if you ask me;)

Saren had upgrades from Sovereign. That's pretty much the only explanation I can think of. Same with the metal-y bits on his jaw/teeth - and his glowy eyes. Plus, that way you can tell he is a bad guy ;)

I'd say it's an age thing. Garrus is pretty young, Nihlus didn't seem that old. Saren was around for a long time. Growing old in the reverse tusk?

I'm still wondering how Nihlus did not notice his friend having a metal jaw, metal teeth, and a inner glow.

Maybe Saren is a different turian "Race", like how humans are black, white, asian, etc.
