Yes, but only because they can. They could also sell you the game cheaper, but why should they?

Insults? Please. And for what, exactly, should I be grateful? That a part of my purchase, a "network which will offer DLCs", actually did what was promised? That's like demanding I be grateful that the DVD is actually readable. The offered DLC isn't exactly spectacular either, I might add. And at least the vehicle was supposed to be part of the main game anyway.

First off, i didn't mean to insult you in particular. Just everyone who thinks that bioware treats their fanbase like crap. So i apologize for that. However, you have to understand that bioware made this dlc free for the majority of the people who bought the game. It may not be what you wanted, but i sure as hell won't complain.

Ok let's rephrase the question. When have you ever seen a new game for the 360 that isn't 60 $, but is still worth buying.

The day mass effect 2 came out i went to the store and paid sixty dollars for it. I went home put in the code for the cerberus network and downloaded the normandy crash site and zaeed for 0 microsoft points. That sounds pretty free to me.

Free would be spending 60 bucks on ME2. Going home and downloading Zaeed with no need for a code.

It was included with the price of the game, a tough concept for some to grasp.

Yeah, and you also put the DVD into your console, and played the game. Without paying a second time. Do you consider the DVD to be "pretty free" as well then?

and i say that's crap because there is so much product value in mass effect 2 that if anything i feel like i'm ripping off bioware by only paying 60 bucks.

No, that is the difference between actually free and not free.
I really don't care about your guilt complex.

I'm not talking about my guilt complex i'm saying that even if bioware didn't give the cerberus network the game would still be sixty bucks. The cerberus network only charges people who try to either pirate the game or get it cheaper at a used game store.  Blaming bioware for doing this is like blaming musical artists for sueing people who pirate their music.

In this quote chain I am not talking about the possible benefits or reasons for Cerberus Network. I am just saying it is not free as you claim it is.

By your definition no DLC for any game is ever free b/c you have to have bought the game in the first place.

You're probably the type of guy who sees a sign that says "free popcorn" at a movie theatre and complains that it's not really free b/c you had to bother physically going.

By your definition, any game is free because you only pay for the box, but not the content inside.

..................simply amazing.

For something to be free, it must be so for ALL users. If it came in the box then it's something included as part of the purchase price. Hence, you bought it and it's not free.

I still don't get how I paid for any DLC? I paid the same amount for my copy of Mass Effect 2 as I did for my copy of Crysis as I did for my copy of Bioshock. Other than paying for the internet connection for the DLC I didn't pay anything for Zaeed, or the Normandy crash pack.

Edit: The hydro bill fee analogy is flawed, I'm not paying Bioware a monthly sum to have access to this DLC.

Ask yourself this question then: Knowing that a brand new copy comes with a code for this "stuff", would you have raised hell if your copy was missing the code? Would you have gone back to the store or called EA/BW support to get a new one? If you said yes then the code is clearly part of the package you bought and is not some extra "free" thing.

Looking back at all the bioware games I have ever played - KOTOR, Jade Empire, Dragon Age and Mass Effect 1+2, whenever I finish the game it takes me an hour just to snap out of the sense of awe that I have and carry on with my life. OP you are right. Bioware is the best. Yah I can go have some fun and play Halo, etc. but there are no other games that immerse me into a game more than Bioware games and keep me wanting more.

Keep up the good work Bioware
