If the Mako had better level design it wouldn't have needed to be mercy killed in ME2. The Hammerhead fixes every problem the Mako had and completely makes new problems where the Mako used to have strengths.

To 'fix' the Hammerhead all they have to do is either have the rocket seek out the target that you've targeted OR remove the homing function completely. Either one of these will work.

As for the health, the only thing that really needs changing is ram damage. If you run over a geth unit it hurts the Hammerhead. That needs to go away right now. You should be able to ram as a viable strategy against infantry.

Otherwise, it's a light armored but really fast vehicle that should not play like the slower heavily armored and armed Mako. That keeps the two very different, as it should be.

As for the whole vehicle argument in Mass Effect, there's always been vehicles in Mass Effect. I actively missed one in vanilla ME2 and I was so happy to hear about the Hammerhead. It's fun. Who cares if it's not strictly RPG like. It's fun.

I enjoyed down and dirty combat in the first game (Bring Down the Sky's main base defenses were really fun those first few times) and I really enjoyed the speed and jumps of the Hammerhead.

Frankly, since we're not getting new weapons or characters out of Overlord the one big selling point to me is that the Hammerhead will feature. I can't wait.

....and it is story based but the basic description we've been told is rather meh. Maybe the final choice will be between setting the new Cerberus made AI out onto the universe or destroying it. Otherwise, it seems like a regular mook fight: tear through synthetics.

EDIT:

Also, I really wish we'd get a release date soon...but....I'd rather have it bug free than not so...

why is this topic only 14 pages long. its just as long as the "bring back niftu cal" topic.

something is wrong with this picture. maybe bioware shouldnt have gone so main stream, they lost their real fans.

both the mako and the hammerhead suck. the idea is fine in theory, but is held up by limitations in design/engine. the hammerhead is far too "arcadey", the mako was just a pain to get around in. tbh i'd get rid of both and have exploration on non-linear, smaller maps packed with more detail - like expanded N7 missions basically - that way you get the exploration, better environments/worlds and don't have the negatives that the vehicles bring.

It's weird, I remember reading about a 6/15 release date a while ago, but can't seem to find it. Anyways, good to see it announced on there.

a pain to get around in the mako? you best be trolling... its way more user friendly than the mako and its so easy to go where you want to. the only thing its missing in the agility and movement category is the barrel roll feature

F**K!
Somebody should tell BW people not to reveal so much spoilers!!!
Seriously, since the ME2 marketing campaign started they dont giva a flying F* that some of us DO NOT WANT TO KNOW THE STORYLINE!!! Features, yes. Gameplay, yes. Storyline and plot, NO!

How much do I have to emphasize to at least warn of spoilers? As much as lots of the overlord could be deducted from the beginning, now the story holds no secret and I can predict the 90% of the story with "twists" and the "decisions"...

Before the ME2 hit the distributioin BW came out with the most spoilerous trailer ever, I made a thread about this tactic with spoilers and someone from BW staff (cant remember who) said these were just minor spoilers and that there was a whole world of storyline that would follow...As it turned out I was right and most of important things revealed in BW spoilers reduced the surprise factor when playing the game.

Will this be the marketing model from now on? Do I need to know all the details before I play the damn thing? Did the IQ dropped while I was away?

I am enraged.

The worst spoiler I can recall was on ME1.  I was following the game intently and I followed a link to a new video that had been posted on MTV game's website (the first and last time I have viewed anything MTV related since 1996) and on a page that had no spoiler tag on it whatsoever they showed the entire scene with Wrex on Virmire.

On ME2, I saw a video that allowed me to deduce Archangel's indentity (with certainty) before the game ever shipped; but that recquired very close attention to detail and some deductive logic.

This part of the forum in Mass Effect 2 Official Campaign Quests and Storylines (Spoilers Warning) so yes if you look in here then dont read this part of forum if you dont wish to see spoilers.

It gets me how loads go on about rubbish on TV when there a on and off button yet they have no clue how to use the button. My point dont read if its in spoilers warrning part of forum.

I get what he mean, though, and I sympathize. There's a definite line between giving away story details and giving away spoilers. Especially for an episodic series such as this.

Worst spoiler from BioWare I can remember was for Mass Effect 1. I'd already played and beaten the game, I knew nothing about Reapers or anything. I was YouTubing Mass Effect videos because I was a crazed fan. One of the trailers talked about an "Ancient evil threatening the whole galaxy."

Now, for me the reveal about the Reapers being a threat to the actual universe was revealed on Virmire and I did that last after many many hours of side missions and everything. So it was a fairly late game reveal to me that the Reapers were a threat and what a Reaper actually was.

Had I seen such a trailer beforehand I would have known the moment Tali said, "Reaper" that there was a larger threat than just Saren.

Wouldn't have ruined the game by any means but it would have taken a bit of the enjoyment from the Virmire encounter away.

Also I still haven't seen any Mass Effect 2 trailer except for the one of the ME2 disc. I stayed away from all information possible til ME2 came out.

I also know nothing about Overlord other than it will have the Hammerhead take part in it and it's 5 missions long.
