Don't forget - if Shep turns on them in the end, it's not only justified, but completely expected: Yet another project that blows up in TIM's face.Zaydin wrote...
Sure, they resurrected Shepard, but they had ulterior motives for that.

Hands down the best dlc so far. Anyway, my first impression is that the scenery was beautiful. There was grass, water, cow-like things, birds and butterflies. Loved the elevator music in that one room. Nice touch. Liked the atmosphere, especially since I have been playing Fallout 3 lately. The story was good and had a wonderfully touching ending. No dialogue from the squad was a bit of a letdown, but the absence of EDI is my biggest gripe in that area. I liked the Hammerhead VI, but EDI should have been there. I suppose one could assume that it would not be a good idea to have her inner act w/ a hostile VI, but I don’t think it was addressed and the Hammerhead VI seemed to fair fine. The combat was tight and well leveled, but could have been a bit longer. I would have gladly traded more time w/ Shep for the Hammerhead. Dear god, I hate that thing. Then again, I’m not a fan of arcade games and that’s what the Hammerhead reminds me of. (Parts of ME2 remind me of that too, but that is another thread). It’s a great idea, which for me anyway, just doesn’t click. I don’t want a Mario Brothers game w/ the hopping over rocks and the jumping to the next levels in my Mass Effect. I’m sure there are people who loved that part of it, but I’m not one of them. And the damn thing seems to be made out of tissue paper (unless falling off a cliff or hurling into a mountain at 80 miles an hour). But, I digress.
All in all it is the best of the N7 missions (or what the ME2 N7 missions should have been like to begin with). Sorry, had to get that one last ribbing in there. One good thing for sure, the quality of this dlc is the best yet and hopefully that will be a trend. I don’t expect a story based dlc next month, but perhaps by fall, we can see something even bigger and better. ‘till then, I’m up for more hairstyles for femshep or a new handgun. Either one is fine w/ me.

So, start up the mission and go through it. Chuckle a bit at the scientist's question whether Legion would be a problem, and facepalm at the obviousness of the dish collapsing. Go flying about to grab all the items in the area, go through the two areas to unlock Atlas station, go into Atlas station... and that last endgame mission was just full of WOW.
And I don't mean shiny pretty wow. I mean... wow... just... wow... first the hints showing that they used someone suffering from Autism... then the creepy travel through the facility that gave me Vault 106 flashbacks... then the travel through the virtual interface, complete with flashbacks and pleading for it to stop... and finally... just... seeing what happened to David... I just... wow. That's all I can say. D@&%. Wow.
Top notch, Bioware. Top notch.

playthrough of this long awaited DLC content My full review is below.
BEWARE MAY BE SPOLIERS.
The DLC on a overall is poor I would rate
it a 3 out of 10. You again get to control the Hammerhead tank for most
of this mission, or as I like to call it the Wussytank. As in the
Firewalker Pack the Hammerhead tank is very weak you get hit once your
dead, you get scratched your dead, and let us not forget when you are in
the tank you cannot save your game anywhere. This was a great annoyance
in the Firewalker pack, and continues in this DLC as well.
There
is not much content in this DLC you spend most of your time resuming
your last save after getting blown up in the Hammerhead tank versus
actual game content. There are few rewards for going through this DLC
you get one armor upgrade heavy skin weave 6 of 6 and thats it. There is
no new abilities, weapons, armor, squadmates, or any other upgrades.
This
is pretty much a DLC with lack of content and it is only lengthy
because of the Wussyhead Tank. On a more positive note though the story
was decent, and the voice acting as always is top knotch. The bottom
line though is this DLC worth the $7.50 for MP's, No it is not. Kasumi
stolen memories was a much better DLC and it cost less and you got more
armor upgrades, a new weapon, and a new squadmate.
It is a real
shame Bioware seems to be nickle and diming us for lackluster content.

Seriously? The Hammerhead combat is extremely optional unless you go after the data locations.
True if you don't go after the Data you can bypass much the the Hammerhead combat. But if you are a completionist like me you have to go through it. That being said you still are unable to save while inside the Hammerhead tank, and they made the tank to weak. there are points in the DLC were no matter what you need to use thwe Hammerhead to advance, and in my opinion they should at least make the tank strong enough to take 3-6 shots before blowing up. As it is you get nailed with even a glancing shot from a turret and you blow up. At least in ME1 in the Mako you could take at least a half dozen heavy hits before you would have to take cover and repair.

but mostly it was a let down for me. On a side note when trying to listen to the the voiced terminals
it was awfully quiet i would aways have to turn up my T.V then at the end have to hear the VI scream at the end of EVERY ONE the first time was cool but it did get annoying after that.

I liked the music a lot. Especially the distored piano music in the lounge/break room area and another place. Creepy stuff.

Negatives would be:
- The ad says 5 missions but I counted 4, so I assume the hub world thing counts as a mission, which is lame.
- DRM on the DLC means online activation added to a DRM-free game.
Other than that... BRILLIANT!

Strictly speaking, the ad said "five locations", so yea... the wonders of wording of marketing
But the DLC itself was pretty awesome. Except yes, the voiceover was way too quiet, half the time I wouldn't even know something is being said had I not had subtitles on. And loading is kinda glitchy. When I had to reload the Prometheus "station" autosave (the one with the Geth cannon) the heartbeat from the loading screen got stuck; then I tried to load the "restart mission" checkpoint to try and fix that, and the game crashed altogether.

Compared to the "Evil Ending" that is a lot sadder and actually makes me happy I went with the renegade options (although punching Archer goes up there with one of the best Paragon moments in the game)CrimsonBerry wrote...

Okay... downloaded it, played it and finished it. I haven't read any other opinions in here yet, so thought I'd just throw out my throughts and then go back and see what others had to say.
For the most part, I really enjoyed this. The first section had be a little dubious, as there seemed to be little going on and little dialogue, but once things opened up I was mostly very impressed.
For starters, its good to have a mission with some dialogue in it on another planet. N7 missions where Shepard just went silently from one objective to another, meeting nobody interesting and doing nothing particularly noteworthy with no real choices were, quite frankly, tedious and poorly implemented. This is a lot more like it, where Shepard actually gets to say something and there are some NPCs to interact with. Won't say any more in this regard without spoiling, but this aspect was good.
The designs of the sub-areas was very good too, and actually felt like real places rather than just game levels. Good to see each one had some varied areas that not only felt and looked real but gave you a few options combat-wise, being a little more open and less linear. This helped both in immersion and gameplay. Nice to see a couple of puzzles here and there, even if they were fairly simple.
The main area was gorgeous and vast, and this really is more the type of thing I want to see from ME in the future. A nice, vast explorable area that's well detailed and feels real. N7 missions felt too manufactured, linear and small even if they were visually pleasing, while the original's UNC's were fairly barren and boring, which can be good too... the vast, unending vast and dead planets do have a certain atmosphere to them, but too many barren worlds is overkill and there needs to be life and interesting geographical locations too. This really was a great mix of the both of them: a vast, non-linear and explorable area that looks great and serves its purpose without being an obvious level or being dull. I was actually worried that it was just going to be a few long corridor runs, and was pleasantly surprised at how well designed the place was. More of this, please.
The story was good. I don't know what else to say without spoiling, but I liked the dilemma and the way things happened and played out. Would have liked maybe a few more cutscenes here and there, particularly at the start, but that's a minor gripe. It's actually something that gets better as things go on story-wise, and this is actually true for the DLC overall I feel: the early stuff, as I said, seemed lacking initially and didn't give me much confidence, but things just got better as they went.
A lot of praise thus far, so I suppose I'd better get into the stuff I don't like now.
For starters, I'd like things to start getting away from Cerberus now if possible. The dilemma and story most definitely suited their style, don't get me wrong... I don't think it would have worked quite as well otherwise. But the fact is, we already got a lot of Cerberus stuff in ME2 as it was, with pretty much everything linked to them in some way. I'm starting to get a little sick of it. Not just because of this, but because this really does seem like the first piece of content designed to be played post-ending and we're at the point where the content should reflect that by being stuff that can be logically played beyond the ending. To me, for my Paragon character, it just doesn't make sense that I'd still be TIM's lapdog and be dealing with his issues like this still after the end. I'll just leave things at that... people should know what I mean. I guess what I'm saying is, I hope that any story-driven DLC from now on better reflects this and starts dealing with some more neutral, non-Cerberus stuff. Again... it works well here given the situation and narrative, but I just felt it kind of jars with my post-Suicide Mission Shepard quite a bit. I think its time for the DLC to be a bit more independent.
The only other thing I really didn't like is actually more of a carry-over thing from previous DLC: The Hammerhead.
Sorry... but I still just don't like this vehicle, or the way its presented. Better here than Project Firewalker, I'll give it that, but the fact is this vehicle is just not as suited to these situations as it should be. Sure... The Mako wouldn't be able to get to some of the locations with its limitations, but The Hammerhead is limited in other ways that are just as crucial. The fact that the thing seems to be made of wet tissue paper is its biggest flaw, meaning it can go from a small beep to flames to death in the space of about two seconds far too easily. It still doesn't have an independent turret, let alone two weapons. It just doesn't feel sturdy or quite right either. The HUD while in the thing is useless, giving you information you don't really care about and none of the things that would be useful such as a damage indicator or radar/map. The fact that you can't exit it except at key locations is annoying (how I would have loved to wander the main area on foot with my companions) and the fact you can't save in it is just plain frustrating. Its more nimble and maneuverable than The Mako, but in every other key area The Mako trumps The Hammerhead, IMO. Oh... and why the hell does it still shake around like a hepped up epileptic on coffee when using its scanner?
Simply put: either The Hammerhead needs a major upgrade with both the vehicle itself and the gameplay elements, or it needs to go. It seems far too geared towards action platformy puzzle solving and not geared enough towards actually being a realistic vehicle for exploration and combat. It needs an overhaul... its as simple as that.
Overall, this is a great DLC, really only let down by something from a weaker, previous DLC getting in the way. The story was great, the areas to explore detailed and fantastic, and the overall presentation top class and well above any of the sidequests in the vanilla game. This is now a sidequest planet should be done, and if BioWare were using this to test the waters with the fans and want to know whether this is the way to go, I'll tell them right now "it is!" Great stuff... best ME2 DLC released thus far, and almost up there with BDtS from the original game... but sadly let down by The Hammerhead just being, well... not very good at all. The Hammerhead is not beyond saving by any means, but it needs some work. Pretty much everything else is spot-on. My only other request is that given the possible nature of things in the main game when things are all done to perhaps lean things from now on away from Cerberus a little more... unless of course its story-driven stuff to set up ME3 and such focus is needed anyway.

Not a fan of the Hammerhead, however. It's jarringly disconnected from the normal on-foot gameplay, the combat is terrible, and the platforming is contrived. 0-2 on vehicles, Bioware. Just rip off the Warthog already, -- and that includes proper climb-in/climb-out animations.

Bad things, no new weapons. Skin weave is meh. I finished the game ages ago and used a post-suicide mission save so I don't need it. No squad dialogue especially from Legion and at the part where Shepard gets 'interfaced' with the VI and your mates are banging at the door. Hammerhead. I never finished Firewalker and while I love the agility of this thing, it takes very little effort to blow it up. To take out the turrets I was strafing and air dropping bombs on them which was fun in a way.
Still, seems worth it to me. Thumbs up.
