There's no reason they need "Story Critical" dlc at all. They could introduce "closed story" dlc, say Shepard getting hunted down by assassins or whatever, and however you finish it the 'story' for that DLC is done and over. There'd be need to work it in to ME:3 at all.

If I have to deal with Firewalker to use the new DLC, I'll probably skip it.

I don't think that any of the DLC so far has made a major impact on the story. Really it has been on a closed story arc.
That said, I hope that our ventures into this DLC have some sort of effect on ME3, not like DA:O DLC on Awakening.
(I hate my character strolling around with Mhairi in only handgreaves, a helmet, and underwear. Even though Mhairi is hot, where's my Starfang and Warden Commander Armor???).

Not sure what you mean. It does include the Hammerhead, but I don't think it revisits the Firewalker missions.

I think he means he'd rather not be forced to play Firewalker before Overlord.

I thought they fixed that problem? I saw an Inside Xbox video on XBL that showed the main character wearing Warden Commander plate. I need an answer before I get Awakening for myself...

I’m sorry but not to look a gift horse in the mouth but this Overlord download doesn’t sound all that great at least not as great as it should have been.
“Overlord is the "biggest downloadable content pack yet" for Mass Effect 2.”
-As a downloadable adventure pack it had better be bigger than what we have gotten before. That’s just common sense thinking or it should have been you would think. At about 2 and a half hours of playtime that this apparently has, that comes up to roughly 3 recruiting/loyalty missions in length. Your looking at about 30 minutes per location (if each location is balanced with the same in length) assuming that game time length doesn’t include the travel time. I have to admit I’m a little bit disappointed in the length of this thing.
I would have liked to believe that we would have gotten some exclusive equipment like a weapon, N7 armor part or new things to fight (more mechs and Geth, really?). But this is BioWare not Bethesda (Oblivion, Fallout 3) or Gearbox (Borderlands) so we shouldn’t expect anything like that I guess. To bad there will likely be no puzzle like elements (things that require you to think over shoot to resolve issues) in the download and will be mostly just be more constant shooting.
From what I’ve read about this thing it sounds like a combination of the UNC Cerberus mission from ME1 and the N7Mission chain (N7: Wrecked Merchant Freighter, N7: Abandoned Research Station and N7: Hahne-Kedar Facility). Cerberus, rogue AI and mechs/Geth, oh my. It even sounds like we get to land on a chunk of the planet and drive around to these 5 locations just like that ME1 mission. Even if it is just the one area to drive around it is something at least as long as it is completely free to explore and not some corridor level like map.
Will Overlord have Paragon/Renegade dialog choices and interrupts? Kasumi only had the one renegade interrupt and no Paragon/Renegade dialog. Speaking of, where is my issue of Bad Ass Weekly?
Since is highly likely you need the Hammerhead for this download (I dont expect it to come with the download) I wonder if this will be a Cerberus Network access download. Everyone who now needs to buy the Cerberus Network because they bought the game used will now have to fork over $15 to get the Hammerhead and still pay $7 to get Overlord. Somehow I cant see anyone paying $22 for this download. Sounds like a total rip off to me when you look at it from the side of people who buy used games. But its all in BioWare’s/EA’s best interest to make more money off of their fans like this right?
This had better not be like the ME1 downloads where your squad mates don’t get a single new line to say either, just their basic combat lines.
With the inclusion of the 2 achievements this means we wont likely see another story based download like this for another quarter going by:
“All regular disc-based games must have 1,000 Gamerscore points in the base game - the title can ship with fewer than 1,000 points, but anything added later must be free. Game developers also now have the option of adding up to 250 points via downloadable content every quarter after the first year of release (for a total of 1,750 points).”
Zaeed (15 achievement points) came out on Jan 28, Kasumi (15achievement points) on April 6, Overlord in June (probably late June with 2 achievements probably worth 15 each) the next one probably in Sept sometime. So we get a little 2 and a half hour single mission quest? I expected a lot more.

-I’m not liking the “Faced with destruction, the AI hijacks Shepard's vision” part. So are we guessing that Shepard has some cybernetic enhancements in particular his/her eyes? It contradicts the whole idea of bringing Shepard back exactly as he/she was before getting spaced. Hopefully the story will explain it.
Honestly this thing sounds a lot like the movies The Lawnmower Man mixed in with Virus and Terminator to me.

No it doesn't. TIM and Jacob both explicitly say you have new cybernetic enhancements. What Cerberus wanted to do was avoid affecting your personality. Your body, they had to modify you, just to keep you alive.
Not to mention that several of the in-game upgrades you can purchase are downright transhumanist in nature.

The Kasumi pack does have one renegade/paragon dialog bit when speaking w/ Hock. If you're female, you can even flirt w/ him, though you get the same speech from him no matter what you say.
If I recall, it happens right at the beginning when you meet him. It should have been something a lot better than a quickie little chat like it was. It should have involved the decision you make with Kasumi and the “item” you help her get. A lot if not most of the other loyalty mission have more than 1 single paragaon/renegade dialog choices.

Hopefully that's what the expansion is about. I want the Shadow Broker thing to be just a DLC, because it's really not a Reaper-related thing, it's really revenge.
