Windows Vista 32
PC Version of Game

So I was playing the game, got to red-cliff and realized how to become a bloodmage. Since Bloodmage  can more evenly distribute consitution and willpower, I decided to start a new game.

I exited my current game and started a new game without shutting down the game completely. (Process still running). I played the game for about 6 hours and got to Lothering (sp?) and when I hit level 7, bloodmage was already available, even though in that game I had not been to RedCliff Yet. I will also note that Mor.. offered to teach me shape changing the first time I asked, even though I Had a reputation of like 15 with her (neutral). Somethine she had never offered on my first playthrough, even with a reputation of 78.

I am not certain if this behavior is a bug or if Bioware intended for specializations to remain unlocked once they are unlocked once. My second game, the character was exactly like the first game's character, (same gender/race/class/origin)  only different name and different stats.

It's not a bug. They fully intended for specialization to carry over.

Just to confirm what Alex say. Yes, it's intended. Spec's are unlocked on the account, not the current game. :)

So you can unlock Duelist with your mage, and specialize into it with your rogue if you so wish.

Yep, it's a feature, not a bug! (Really!)

I have read in several posts where people wouldn't play as a BM because of what you have to do to become one. So this means you can be a BM and play out RedCliff however you want... if you are willing to make the hard decision once and start the game over.

Interesting...

Thanks for the replies.

I dont get it... you have to unlock specs? I thought you'd get to choose whatever spec you liked at a certain level? can someone clear this up for me?

Sure, ynamite. In short it's both. You get 2 points to spend on specializations. You get 1 point at level 7 and 1 point at level 14. However, you have to acquire the specific specializations and acquiring them could be through questing, relationships, or money.

Hope that clears it up.
