You're working for Cerberus, the equivalent of Al-Qaida. .

That’s a bit extreme

is it ? Cerberus are terrorists..theu've done extreme things....the AL-Qaida version in space

Do you know anything about AL-Qaida. Cerberus isn’t a terrorist organization.

Yes it is.

No it isn’t, a terrorist is someone( or a group) with intent to spread fear to a general populace. Cerberus is paramilitary with there own personal goals.

You would think that someone who is supposed to "know you" and thinks they had "something special" with you would know that you're not going to strap bombs to thorian creepers, or anything inheriently evil.

But OMG, lets freak out and hate by association regardless.

Yes they are, they blew up a vessel containing element zero above a human colony just to produce biotic children. Thats like blowing up a nuclear powerplant just to see what would happen to the people that lived there.

They are hated by the rest of the galaxy and do terrible things.

Why? I never said Al-Qaida was evil. They're the enemy. Cerberus has commited horrible atrocities for a cause they believe in, same as Al-Qaida.

Groups with actual goals dont kill fifty marines with a thresher maw, set up another thresher maw, hunt down and kill alliance officials, turn an entire colony into husks, abuse kids for biotic perfection,  lie to you about your own missions, and keep enemy technology for human advancement only.
Yeah they sound like nice people to me.

Read my post above. Cerberus doesn’t do those things to inflict fear, they do it to achieve there goals.

Have you never made a mistake? Are video game characters not allowed to make mistakes?

I said it before, I'll say it again: Cerberus are like the Natzis. They believe in racial supremacy and will go to extreme methods to achieve their goals.

But apparently, Ash and Kaidan are supposed to be totally cool with Shepard randomly showing up after two years with a group that is fundamentally evil.

Al Qadia blows up people who aren't them, or if they have Western ties. There is no agenda beyond that.

Right, the rest of the galaxy still sees them as terrorists though nonetheless.

Common definitions of terrorism refer only to those violent acts which are intended to create fear (terror), are perpetrated for an ideological goal (as opposed to a lone attack), and deliberately target or disregard the safety of non-combatants (civilians).

Some definitions also include acts of unlawful violence and war.

a part of this definition describes Cerberus..didn't bother the whole article..but look on wiki..at what terrorism is...Cerberus fits

Incorrect, they believe the West is an imperialist conspiracy to take their land and obliterate Islam. They believe they're defending themselves from a power intent on their destruction, same as Cerberus.

oh yea..found this too

Terrorism has been practiced by a broad array of political organizations for furthering their objectives. It has been practiced by both right-wing and left-wing political parties, nationalistic groups, religious groups, revolutionaries, and ruling governments.[11] One form is the use of violence against noncombatants for the purpose of gaining publicity for a group, cause, or individual

Why is it only the Ashley fans who are get on my case for explaining the difference between a terrorist origination and a paramilitary faction?

That just makes them a terrorist organization that does not make them the same as Al Qaeda. The IRA was a better example and so was the Nzi example.

"Defending themselves" means flying planes into buildings, ramming boats into US Navy vessels, and bombing civillian structures like hotels, apparently.

Bottom line is that Cerberus is seen as terrorists to the rest of the galaxy, even to humans. In ME1 we see the kind of stuff that they were doing, from the rachni to those thorian creatures.  So it should come as no surprise that Ashley/Kaidan are upset and act the way they do when they meet up with you on Horizon.

I'm totally ok with Ash/Kaidan reactions up until you say that the collectors and the reapers are connected and that we have to do something about it and they flat out don't believe you and the facts.

I didn't like that, but then again that was probably what Bioware was going for, so meh...

Still prime candidates to be left to die if the oportunity presents itself in ME3 :wizard:

Thank you. I felt like I was shouting at a brick wall <_<

The semantics of who Cerberus are doesn't matter. They're evil, and it was realistic for Ash and Kaidan to freak out.

Equating a real-life terrorist group with that of one in a game is going to bring up some very nasty arguements and some unpleasant implications. I suggest you drop the analogy.

"I trust you; I just don't trust Cerberus," is what both of them say. The fact that they stood their ground rather than just have a "Sup? Join me." "Kay. I'll get my things lol." moment makes me respect them quite a bit, though the fight really sucked.

The people that are sitting back and holding grudges over the matter are going to have an interesting set of issues come ME3.
