The follow-up email actually will show that we cooled down after a while. Which is why this made my romance decision for my male Shepard tougher since I still like Ashley but Miranda is oh so enticing.

Because people don't make mistakes right? We're all just perfect little automatons who never offend or screw over by accident even the people we care about. And her position is totally untenable, how dare she not immediately join up with someone who's working for human supremacists.Mr.BlazenGlazen wrote...

Don't need to get all ansty about it. Just the way i feel about ash and kaidan. And i know they tried to make it up by sending an email but it didn't click for me. Maybe if we end up seeing them again after the suicide mission i might change my mind.drunken pyromaniac wrote...

Mostly, it seems we're getting new posters who didn't read the previous arguments. I don't really feel like repeating myself, though.

They are not real people. They are fictional. Fictional people only make mistakes if the writers make them to. And most of the time, espetially in the medium that pays as little attention to details and minutae as computer games, those mistakes are not meant to be accidental, one of a kind occurences. Computer games tend to use broad strokes in characterisation, so each isolated incident can be considered a big - and meaningful - part of character.drunken pyromaniac wrote...

Like i said its just an opinion. People have different perceptions of different characters. I'd probably end up doing the same thing your doing for...lets say garrus or thane, but then mentally kick myself since i can't force people what they should think.

I fail to see how fictional characters can't make low-scale mistakes. I honestly don't think her refusal to come with you in ME2 is going to be a huge plot point in the future.

Or it could be because Bioware is trying to make their characters more realistic. Think about it, even the least sympathetic ME squadmate (imo Zaeed) has recognizably human and understandable motivations, much better than some of their older characters. Some of whom seemed to fall under the alignment of chaotically stupid.Beholderess wrote...

When she pulled that **** move I was done.. Like somebody mentioned above this is a game and very complex emotions are all simplified into one or two scenes.. Thats how I felt about the whole situation.. She rubbed me the wrong way and I was done.

I know. You can't expect to deliver a harsh point and then not get callled on it by the character's fans though, surely?Mr.BlazenGlazen wrote...

Actually, its not that harsh compared to what i seen to other characters, especially garrus believe it or not. Really my only pet peeve with ash is that shes kind of racist. But who knows, maybe she changed her mind after being on shepard's rag tag multi species anti reaper team number one. And then once she sees what you and your team has been through in me2 she might get a different perception. Kaidan? I really don't know to much about him. Hes almost like the same person as ashley isn't he?drunken pyromaniac wrote...

Oh? I see plenty of ways of how it might influence the game in the future. For once, it clearly tells that Virmire survivor loyalty is not to Shep, and in situations of conflicted loyalty a fight is possible.

Condemnation as a trator or an idiot is pretty harsh, you know. And I hate to tell you this but no reasonable person would say Garrus gets more hate then Ash or Tali.Mr.BlazenGlazen wrote...

And I could type out paragraphs on how you're wrong about saying she's racist but I'm just goiing to give you this link instead.

EDIT:

I wasn't talking about you specifically. But people who target Ashley specifically as a character they "hate" and so on and rant about how she's a racist are character bashing, though it comes in degrees. Similarly, anyone who said Tali's just a useless stalker with a crush would be bashing her character. Or anyone who said Jack's just a *****.
Several people in this thread have been bashing Ashley. That's why pyro and I, along with a few others, are acting defensively.

Not really. They will the same function, but the charactes themselves are very different. Much like Samara and Morinth=). I liked Kaidan more in ME1 (his worldviev was more compatible with mine) and Ash more in ME2 (her letter was much, much more promising than Kaidan's)
