-I’m not liking the “Faced with destruction, the AI hijacks Shepard's vision” part. So are we guessing that Shepard has some cybernetic enhancements in particular his/her eyes? It contradicts the whole idea of bringing Shepard back exactly as he/she was before getting spaced. Hopefully the story will explain it.

Honestly this thing sounds a lot like the movies The Lawnmower Man mixed in with Virus and Terminator to me.

I have quite a few comments on this, but since it's pretty long I won't say them all.  First:

1.  Since when is Gearbox a model for DLC?  I don't see them as ahead of BioWare to be sure.  Bethesda or Valve?  Sure.  But not Gearbox.

2.  The story both shows and tells you that you haven't been brought back wholly.  Miranda says that they fixed Shepard up as close to his original self as possible, and if you're a renegade you can see Shepard's ocular cybernetics glowing red behind his eyes.  In the "regeneration" cutscene it also shows numerous pieces of technology being implanted into Shepard.
2.1: This next part is redundant due to the abovie, but still interesting:  Read the class entries.  Default Shep is a soldier, and the soldier description reads: "High-level operatives are outfitted with ocular synaptic processors that
allow them to focus on targets with lethal accuracy." (Aka Adrenaline rush is a cybernetic skill.)  So for soldier Sheps the sight jacking makes even more sense.

Sight-jacking is why I'm even more excited.  It looks like we're going to get a mission with a really neat set of aesthetics based on what I've heard about how Shep's sight is altered, and I can't wait.  Of course if his sight is jacked and his squad says nothing that would be really weird, so here's hoping that every squad member's VA gets back into the studio!

With the inclusion of the 2 achievements this means we wont likely see another story based download like this for another quarter going by:

“All regular disc-based games must have 1,000 Gamerscore points in the base game - the title can ship with fewer than 1,000 points, but anything added later must be free. Game developers also now have the option of adding up to 250 points via downloadable content every quarter after the first year of release (for a total of 1,750 points).”

Zaeed (15 achievement points) came out on Jan 28, Kasumi (15achievement points) on April 6, Overlord in June (probably late June with 2 achievements probably worth 15 each) the next one probably in Sept sometime.

Wait, what?

I don't see why you're even bringing this up. If your numbers are right that means the XBox version has had.
15 (Zaeed) + 15 (Kasumi) + 30 (Overlord) = 60 points added.

That's not anywhere near 250.

They're sending Shep off to fight Geth again?

Lame (relative since ME2 is so awesome).

Why are the most fun enemies simply just Humans, Asari, and Salarians? Geth are so boring.

Yeah, seems like someone just got a stick up their butt and is trying to rationalize it.  I've said it before and I'll say it again - BW SUCKS at DLC.  When I can see that they're trying to get good at it, I'm more than happy to support them.  Think about it like this - even if DLC for ME2 only goes from crap to acceptable - imagine what will happen for the finale in ME3!

Bioware, I've purchased everything for ME2 (CE, Appearance Pack, Kasumi, Equalizer,) and I will purchase this too.  Please continue to improve your DLC model, and as long as you do, I will support it with my hard earned dollars.  Looking forward to the next installment!

It's too complicated to fix. Beyond present game engine technology.  Besides, it would take effort.

Been working on this off and on for a few days.. Sorry for the long result. *posted in a few places also.

I’m sorry but not to look a gift horse in the mouth but this Overlord download doesn’t sound all that great at least not as great as it should have been.

“Overlord is the "biggest downloadable content pack yet" for Mass Effect 2.”
-As a downloadable adventure pack it had better be bigger than what we have gotten before. That’s just common sense thinking or it should have been you would think. At about 2 and a half hours of playtime that this apparently has, that comes up to roughly 3 recruiting/loyalty missions in length. Your looking at about 30 minutes per location (if each location is balanced with the same in length) assuming that game time length doesn’t include the travel time. I have to admit I’m a little bit disappointed in the length of this thing.

I would have liked to believe that we would have gotten some exclusive equipment like a weapon, N7 armor part or new things to fight (more mechs and Geth, really?). But this is BioWare not Bethesda (Oblivion, Fallout 3) or Gearbox (Borderlands) so we shouldn’t expect anything like that I guess. To bad there will likely be no puzzle like elements (things that require you to think over shoot to resolve issues) in the download and will be mostly just be more constant shooting.

From what I’ve read about this thing it sounds like a combination of the UNC Cerberus mission from ME1 and the N7Mission chain (N7: Wrecked Merchant Freighter, N7: Abandoned Research Station and N7: Hahne-Kedar Facility). Cerberus, rogue AI and mechs/Geth, oh my. It even sounds like we get to land on a chunk of the planet and drive around to these 5 locations just like that ME1 mission. Even if it is just the one area to drive around it is something at least as long as it is completely free to explore and not some corridor level like map.

Will Overlord have Paragon/Renegade dialog choices and interrupts? Kasumi only had the one renegade interrupt and no Paragon/Renegade dialog. Speaking of where is my issue of Bad Ass Weekly?

Since is highly likely you need the Hammerhead for this download (I don’t expect it to come with it) I wonder if this will be a Cerberus Network access download. Everyone who now needs to buy the Cerberus Network because they bought the game used will now have to fork over $15 to get the Hammerhead and still pay $7 to get Overlord. Somehow I cant see anyone paying $22 for this download. Sounds like a total rip off to me when you look at it from the side of people who buy used games. But its all in BioWare’s/EA’s best interest to make more money off of their fans like this right?

This had better not be like the ME1 downloads where your squad mates don’t get a single new line to say either, just their basic combat lines.

this is Casey Hudson talking about Overload, possible future DLC, and mineral mining

looks like Overload is just the start of new story-based mission DLC. I hope they get bigger and better until the release of Mass Effect 3!

Same Hammerhead from Firewalker, eh?

I hope there isn't much combat for it then, because it has no shields and a crap main gun and armor.

This is made up by its ridiculous manueverablity though. You can jump over mountains for God's sake lol. Try doing that with the Mako.

The Hammerhead probably could use a shielding upgrade (3 seconds of bullets lit me on fire, really?), but like DaBig said, it's soooooooo much more fun to fly that I didn't care.

There's still one more vehicle hook available. I wonder if they'll use it in the future? I think Shepard needs to do some old school space fighter flying :)

Ah yes, the Mako.  May I ask who came up with the idea of a heavily-armoured 6-wheeled shopping trolley with a machine gun and rocket hydraulics?  Image IPB

Who came up with the idea?  The Russians.

I can jump the Mako over mountains, and usually even survive the landing!  Providing I don't flip over, of course.  I cannot, however, jump over saarlacs Thresher Maws no matter how hard I try.  You would think, after all this time, someone would have developed armor that could stand up to saarlac Thresher Maw acid.

I'm not really interested, honestly. What ME2 needs is more relative content. BioWare needs to expand on existing stories, not completely new and random side stories.

Liara, for example. The story exists. People want it. The out-of-the-blue Overlord story did not exist in the retail game. People didn't want it. Regardless of the people who say it looks nice now, nobody asked for it before it was announced. Did BioWare not say they were going to make DLC mainly around what people wanted? As I recall, lots of people wanted Liara DLC, but I don't recall anybody saying they wanted Overlord.

BioWare should work on filling the blank paper they have in their hands before they go find more blank paper. There needs to be Liara DLC. There needs to be Kaiden/Ashley DLC. Both of those subjects are largely a mystery and would be far more interesting than another other other other geth outing.

The Liara DLC is still coming (almost certainly anyway). People are talking about it because it's already been data mined.

This is included in what lots of people (including me) have been asking for by the way. New content that offers new stories rather than lack of stories (Firewalker).

I'm sure it is still coming. Regardless, I think this is exactly the wrong road to travel with story DLC. I'm going to buy Overlord and most likely enjoy it for what it is, but I doubt it's anything compared to what BioWare COULD be doing right now. I mean, the only reason I recruited Archangel was so he could calibrate my equipment. It's not like I wanted to talk to him or anything. Let's go blow up our dozenth rogue AI. =/
