-I’m not liking the “Faced with destruction, the AI hijacks Shepard's vision” part. So are we guessing that Shepard has some cybernetic enhancements in particular his/her eyes? It contradicts the whole idea of bringing Shepard back exactly as he/she was before getting spaced. Hopefully the story will explain it.
Honestly this thing sounds a lot like the movies The Lawnmower Man mixed in with Virus and Terminator to me.
I have quite a few comments on this, but since it's pretty long I won't say them all. First:
1. Since when is Gearbox a model for DLC? I don't see them as ahead of BioWare to be sure. Bethesda or Valve? Sure. But not Gearbox.
2. The story both shows and tells you that you haven't been brought back wholly. Miranda says that they fixed Shepard up as close to his original self as possible, and if you're a renegade you can see Shepard's ocular cybernetics glowing red behind his eyes. In the "regeneration" cutscene it also shows numerous pieces of technology being implanted into Shepard.
2.1: This next part is redundant due to the abovie, but still interesting: Read the class entries. Default Shep is a soldier, and the soldier description reads: "High-level operatives are outfitted with ocular synaptic processors that
allow them to focus on targets with lethal accuracy." (Aka Adrenaline rush is a cybernetic skill.) So for soldier Sheps the sight jacking makes even more sense.
Sight-jacking is why I'm even more excited. It looks like we're going to get a mission with a really neat set of aesthetics based on what I've heard about how Shep's sight is altered, and I can't wait. Of course if his sight is jacked and his squad says nothing that would be really weird, so here's hoping that every squad member's VA gets back into the studio!
