What combination am I supposed to do to make the door open?

If you've explored the map it tells you in your quest notes what to do. From memory, I believe its:



Fill the jug with water

Take the jug

Put it on the altar

Sip Water from the jug

Pray

Take the jug

Empty the jug into the pool



I'm not sure if thats exactly it, but its close.

You have to fill the Jug with water from the pool. Then place it on the altar, kneel and pray, then take a drink from the Jug but not all of it. Then take the jug and empty it in the pool and the door will open. But all of this should be also written on a note in your journal.

Edit: i think it was first pray then zip. Beware was faster

I also believe it is pray first, then sip, but you should have a note in your journal telling you what to do (found in an earlier room in the dungeon).

get, fill, set, pray, sip, get, pour, done

Some carving or something shows the exact order.
Though some of the dialog choices seem a little ambiguous so you have to read them carefully and keep in mind the carving. Otherwise it's easy to mess up the order

On the left down the stairs when entering the room.  If you're standing right next to the fountain, just just on one side of you tucked into a little nook against the wall.  It just looks like a small, dark wooden pedestal.

Bleh, i have tried all the posted combinations to no avail...although i have not come across the carving loot that tells you the exact order, should that matter? Is the carving found in a locked chest?

Actually i worked it out, yes you do need to find the scroll giving you directions for the ritual on the altar to work.



The scroll can be found in a sacrophagus in the large room in the centre of the map
