I finished DA:O and was hoping to finish other quest that i had left out so i could finish the main quests only to be dissapointed:(. bioware needs to make a patch that allows the character to continue to roam outside after you finish the game.:ph34r::ph34r:

So... you want to roam about the world and have everyone react as if the end battle never happened and the Blight is still occurring? Or you just want to have everyone's dialogue replaced with the equivalent of an ambient "Hi, Hero of Ferelden!" line? I'm not sure how you could complete quests that way, except for the ones that are completely unrelated to what's going on.

I too fail to see the point of this.

I feel weird enough using post-coronation saves to play new DLC.

I think it would be nice to be able to finish the other quests after the main battle is done. Look at Fable 2 you can walk around and do other little missions/quests after the main story line is done and the same thing with Elder Scrolls.

Well, when you complete the game you get a post epilogue save where your levels/items etc stay the same but it's actually before the events of the end game. This is so you can complete DLC before the end game (story wise), even if you've already completed the main game - I don't see a problem with including the original quests in with this bit.

I think most of these type of complaints are people like myself who are just gutted its all over , which is a complement to the game , just never wanted it to end :) . I think as mr gaider said it would be pretty pointless unless there were quest designed to be done after the main event.

So the answer is: yes, you want to go to areas and have it treated as if the final battle has not actually occurred, yet, even though you've already done it in that save game. Yes, that's probably something that could be done, though it's effectively the same as if you actually did run around and do those quests prior to completing the game. Is that what you're really after?

Why? I mean exactly what would be the point for one to continue on? What would you accomplish? This isn't a Bethesda game where you have a massive world space you can still explore, it's solely centered around the story and one it's done and told then it's done and told. There just isn't anything left for the player to do.

Very nicely put. Pretty much my opinion on this.

I think of myself as a story-first guy. And yet, I see some appeal to "free roam" after beating DAO. For example, I was so caught up in the main story that I rushed to the end and ignored side quests. You seriously think I'm going to side quests for the Chantry with all the stuff that's going down? Seriously?

So yeah I charged ahead. Granted, I made time for camp chat since, well, the characters are the best part of the game. But once the game was over I wanted to see all that I had missed. Doh. Can't take my save game right before the end and go scoop up all the side quests. You have to backtrack a fair bit. I did that and beat the game again. But I can see why people want to do it. It is out of character to do it. So I don't begrudge Bioware for locking the game up. I don't mind them erring on the side of respecting the story. But had the option been there to finish up things (and have the character more maxed for Awakening import) I probably would have done just that rather than reloading an earlier save.

But what you're supposed to do is play through the whole game a second time. You've still got five other origins anyway, not to mention all the quest alternatives you didn't take the first time..

And hopefully buy more DLC while you're at it.

Thank you, BioWare, for having the balls not to bow to the vocal dopes and allow free roam. Stories begin, move, shake, and end. I wish Bethesda had remembered that with Fallout 3 (which was a great game anyways.)

But the game does have quests that are not linked to the main story. The ability to play after the default ending would allow players to tie up any loose ends. Personally I am not sure in and of itself its a great idea though.

However, one that I do think would work is a sort of Epilogue story, which introduces either a new area or dungeon or quest. These sorts of sections are an interesting staple of JRPGs for the past 20 years, and while, yes, I know this is a western RPG, it would be nice to have a small optional section of the game tailored to hardcore players.

We know Bioware does not design their games like this. They don't really want to either. Bethesda already does it, Rockstar already does it.

Why would Bioware try to compete with Beth and R* when they are already doing what they do best?

Do I want a Hybrid DAO/Bethesda style game? YES of course I do.

Unfortunately Bioware simply does not agree with that design perspective in single player RPGs.

They have basically said if you want free roam, play our KOTOR MMO

I'd cry if a BW/Bethesda game was announced. BW characters and story. Bethesda free roam. Holy god that would be epic.

That would be Fallout New Vegas. Bethesda laid down the base and Obsidian which pretty much BioWare Jr. is doing everything else, the combat mechanics, dialogue, story, characters, quests, ect. New Vegas is about as close as you're going to get to that dream.

I'd heard that. I don't expect much from the story though. It seems like a basic revenge plot at this point. But the squadmates have their own story/personal quest. From what I've read, at least.
