Wow, people are hard to please. Guess the two groups (pro and con DLC) that were in their respective forums came here and started wreaking havoc on each other.

The difference is hardly night and day if you compare just the random "go down to the planet" missions...

Random?

Eden Prime, Therum, Feros, Noveria, Virmire, Ilos, Final Assault? ie. all of the 'main' missions pre and post-initial citadel arrival/departure.

A good majority of the UNC missions?

Do I really need to go into great detail on all of them to prove how much they are just as much shooter as a fair number of the ME2 missions?

Sorry but I just find it laughable how people seem to think that the ME missions were really any different to the ME2 ones.

To some extent you could equate 'Overlord' to being ME2s version of UNC Geth Incursions but with a bit more story to it than just going to random planets and blowing up Geth. The only real bit of story in that came when speaking to Tali about the Geth data and choosing whether to give it her or not..

That's where I'm pretty much placing my expections. Well, UNC: Geth Incursions with a 'uge glowing green head. And I'm still fairly excited. ;)

Has it been released already?

No, I didn't think so. So how can those of you who complain, know it will be bad? That's the worst case of whining I've come across in ages. If you think it sounds boring or bad, don't buy it. Simple as that.

And complaining about 7 $.... geeez..... that's two beers in a bar. :?

I'm looking forward to it. I hope it will have some interaction, and not just shooting, but we'll see. Either way, I'm certain I'll survive.

I find it funny how moronic fanboys like you immediately jump to criticising ME1 whenever someone rightfully criticises ME2. I know its hard to defend such a mediocre shooter, but put some effort in at least.

What you think because some people prefer ME1s execution, that means its flawless? Get a grip fanboy, and take your tounge out of Biowares backside. I think ME2 sucks, and I imagine this DLC is going to be another apt demonstration as to why. So far, I count only the first 1/3 of the Kasumi DLC worth anything from Bioware. The rest was just shooting once more.

People who leap to Biowares defence the moment they get criticism are seriously some of the most pathetic people alive.

Dude, complaining is fine. But without a single argument if you don't count "U GUISE R FANBOIIIIS" a post like that doesn't work for anything. Seriously, the ME1 missions were actually just as much shooting as the ones in ME2.

What I've learned today: pointing out objectively observable similarities in the shooting to non-shooting ratio between ME1 and ME2 is a) an unfair criticism of ME1 and B) rampant, pathetic ME2/BW fanboyism.

Okay.

This doesn't seem very compelling.
Sounds like a generic combat romp with a horde of voiceless and faceless enemies and one "boss" who probably has like 5 lines. I can get that in any other level of ME2. Seems like expensive busy-work, this.

And isn't this formula wearing a little thin?
Some of you guys sound way too excited about this imo.

It's good to know I'm not the only one who feels this is a bit overrated.

Recent posts have made me start thinking why anyone would give the Collector base to Cerberus (it's a disaster waiting to happen, as this and countless other Cerberus projects have shown), and why anyone would want to be invovled with Cerberus in any way (how many of their projects have been successful?).

I always find it funny how people go on about how ME2 missions are more shooter than story driven in comparison to ME missions.

Let's have a look at Liara's recruitment on Therum

What was Shepard doing for most of that mission?

Oh yeah shooting geth.

God forbid that an Alliance Military Special Operations guy / Council Special Operations guy actually shoot someone in the course of being in the middle of responding to a military incursion on a Terran colony.

I think I will also like this DLC.  I think I'd like it even more if it came with the Incisor Rifle bundled with it. Image IPB

It's impossible to know any real details of this upcoming mission but from OP's post it certainly sounds like a simple shooter DLC. Skipping thru all the fan's posts here and everywhere else across the forum, it seems obvious to me that the ME shooter side of the game has been thoroughly milked. On the other hand, fans unanimously and continually keep begging BW for more plot.

We're in a limbo period while we endure the long wait for ME3. A shooter DLC will only allow us to spin our wheels in the meantime.

Using Dragon Age as a learning tool for BW, 'Awakenings' (plot driven) was a win, while 'RTO' (plotless) was a fail. I sure hope BW hasn't fallen asleep in class while the 'Overlord' lesson is covered.

See this is why you constantly show your lack of intelligence.

Also it proves what a hypocritical bufoon you are because if I was 'criticising' them then surely that would make you pathetic as well seeing as you were 'defending' ME.

See this is where you lack intelligence because if you actually read what I posted, all I stated was that ME2s missions were just the same as ME as far as story and shooting was concerned. I was not criticising ME. Learn to read.

Sounds like a mission custom made for my engineer which is cool with me given it's my favorite class.

Thanks Bioware.

I must say that I have high hopes for this DLC, sounds like it could be entertaining.

However, I would like to know if many of us are wasting our time hoping for Liara/Shadow Broker DLC, just a little hint BioWare, is that too much to want?

Well if what Chris Priestly put in this topic is correct...

Chris Priestly wrote...

How long it takes to play always
differs a bit from person to person. One press site in Norway (I
think? One of those Scandinavian type countries) took about 2.5 hours to
play. My first playthrough was almost 2 hours (but I'm pretty awesome
at ME gameplay), so I would estimate at somewhere between 90 - 150
minutes give or take.

Then I would say the answer to your question is yes it will last longer than the time it takes to boil an egg. :wizard:

I'll buy it. I like new missions, and stuff like this is something I'm willing to pay for. That being I'm not terribly excited by the story's premise.

1, The premise has been beaten to death by other games and media.

2. Sick of the geth. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate em, but personally I think I learned enough about them to satiate me until mass effect 3. There are other stories and concepts in the mass effect universe that I'd rather explore.

In a way you're both right. The shooting/story in both ME1 and ME2 are about the same. What makes them different are all the main missions on ME1 are connected in some way to the main villian. They have a continuity and the main villian Saren/Sovereign were more engaging and interesting than Harbringer/Collectors. All the main ME1 missions felt like you were saving the galaxy and the story therefore had a big scope.

In ME2, you have as much story, but it seems disconnected. You feel like you're distracted from the main mission dealing with your teams personal problems. The story seems more personal than saving the galaxy thing we did in ME1. Harbringer/Collectors feel more like a sideshow than anything else. I think thats why people think there was more story in ME1 main missions. The stories connected while in ME2 very few do.

Liara fans would rather see her situation with the shadow broker dealt with on a 7 dollar DLC rather than a full expansion pack?

I'd ignore anybody with a blue avatar and posts that are about how much ME2 sucks if I were you;)
Saying ME1 is better then ME2 is downright wrong. And no, that's not from somebody who only plays shooters.
Anyway, Dinkamus, this is Bioware fan forums. If for some reason you're retarded and can't accept that ME2 is better, fine. But you don't offer anything constructive, just whining and moaning in threads other people are actually trying to contribute too. Also, if you personally attack people, expect such to happen to you.

I think they were hoping for a full blown expansion, with 25hours of content, 12new heavy pistols, inventory systems and 3hours of dialouge with Liara.
