I think its guaranteed that Shep will have new lines in this DLC. They have said there is a surviving scientist in the facility, so you have to at least speak to them. Given the AI face, there is a good chance Shep will interact with the VI as well.

I wouldn't say it's everyone with a Liara avatar, but the most irrational "omg me2 sux so muhc i haet u biower" posts do seem to come mostly from people with Liara avatars. Pretty strange for a group of people who are supposedly fans of, you know, a scientist. *hides under a rock*

Liara is dark and edgy in ME2...we adapt ourselves accordingly.

The term is Grimdark, get it right.  Only super seriously serious writers can do grimdark.

Honestly, I still had high hopes for ME2 even after I had heard that Liara and some others would be cameoed. I still came to the forums and talked excitedly about the game and speculated about the plot and Shepard's role in it and the other characters' role. The game failed to meet those other expectations I had, as the storyline was awful and Shepard acted like a robot the entire time. All the loyalty missions, strung together, are tedious and boring and distract from the main 'plot' (which was not hard to do as it was terribly weak).

Pretty much spot on.  There were a lot of very well done improvements technically and in gameplay that, if combined with a strong story and characters, would have made this possibly my favorite game ever.  Unfortunately the bad elemets of the game were so overwhelming its hard to take the game and the series seriously at this point.

Shh. Dink... you're not allowed to dislike ME2. Come on. Be real here.

We're not allowed to be disappointed and we're certainly not allowed to voice that opinion.

Yeah, nobody's ever said anything negative about ME2 on this board. You're very shocking and edgy, and obviously smarter than everyone else.

Yeah, I was planning on bringing Legion on this mission. Was finally able to see him in action ont he Flotilla, that was fun, but I wished the Quarians freaked out a bit more.

I do too, they where way to nonchalant about a member of their cultures destroyer being a board their super secure flotting home.

To some extent you could equate 'Overlord' to being ME2s version of UNC Geth Incursions but with a bit more story to it than just going to random planets and blowing up Geth. The only real bit of story in that came when speaking to Tali about the Geth data and choosing whether to give it her or not..

...and in all the 5 Overlord pics and single paragraph description leads you the believe there will be more story or dialogue?

Well we can guess Overlord will have some kind of dialogue to introduce himself and some kind of dying line at the end but how much interaction will that elicit from the crew? You can assume as much as you like but there are no grounds for this to mission chain to be any more involved then current ME2 missions.

So many people riled and hyped up over this DLC that is completely random and unknown. An A.I going amuck taking over other machines, familar.

this would be a real stretch, but it would still be cool to meet an AI named Nazara 8)

edit - technically we already met nazara - but you know, again

That's definitely a possibility - we don't know how much Cerberus salvaged off of Sovereign, only that some of it was used for the Normandy.

Legion and Tali probably are the best picks to bring with you from a story perspective.

Then again, since it appears to be a Cerberus project gone downhill, Jack, Miranda, and Jacob might have reason to give their input.
And since Geth are involved, Garrus might get some more "old times" lines.

The other half of the crew would appear to have less reason to weigh in (Thane, Mordin, Grunt, Samara, Zaeed, Kasumi).

Though this is all presuming that this was planned ahead far enough that they were able to record voiced lines for companions and not just Shepard.

Or that it was planned late enough that they recorded lines while recording lines for a full expansion pack or ME3 :P

Seems too early for a full expansion pack, though... unless they're planning on surprising us this early!

I saw an article claiming that "It's all about the stand-alone story and the extra missions, though: don't go expecting new characters or new weapons.".    Clearly it would be ridiculous to add a new squad member for every piece of story DLC; but I really hope Bioware gives us a new gun or something as a reward for completing this.

New missions are great; but adding in a new gun and/or bonus power and/or armor pieces really helps the replay value.  Hell if they don't want to give us anything new, just give us another crack at the sort of advanced weapon training we get on the Collector Cruiser, so my soldier doesn't have to choose between the Widow or the Revenant anymore.

It would be great if they released new weapons or armor for free through the Cerberus Network the same day the Overload paid DLC is released.

At least, I hope there's still free bits of DLC still being worked on...

I really hope they never release this as the next DLC,

Mass Effect 2: Return To Virmire - includes all the content that should have been in the original game!

I am thrilled.....I am 10 million miles beyond thrilled.....BioWare is actually delivering on promises of DLC for not just one but two games.....the way I see it is: if they release it on the 360 then I'll buy it regardless of whether it's a small item, DLC, expansion pack or full game.

Considering how short a time there was between Dragon Age coming out and Awakenings (4 months, I think?).
I'd say this situation is more likely:
