The FPS aspect of ME1 on the PC really sucked IMO. Also, the graphics and design of running around on the planets in the vehicle were only so so, hell I thought Halo 1 was better! But, ME2 really delivered for me so far as far as the FPS aspect goes, and the hammerhead expansion showed some promise of changing the dull ME1 vehicle on a planet (SPEED BOOST AND SUPER JUMP ZOMG!). ME2 was also a lot more challenging as far as Insanity goes VS ME1 hard mode. I blew through ME1 on highest difficulty, all side quests and planet searching included, like no time went by at all, and at least ME2 took some skill. I only play on the PC versions so I don't know what its like on a system, but this is my opinion on that matter!
PS! I cant wait for the new content, always nice to continue on in the game and see what they have in store....
PSS! One last ME1 RANT, WTH was up with the mineral collecting for nothing in that? OOOO Credits yay! No no, ME2 was more thought out as to content, where ME1 was just a mediocre shooter/rpg that was only held together by the story more than the game part....
pfft typical 15 year old, all you want is flashy pew pew braindead OMFGZ LOL PEW PEW gameplay. Please stop asking your mommy to get you M rated games until you understand the concept of an RPG
Mass Effect is a TPS not an FPS (bet you don't know what a TPS is). It is not meant to be a pure shooter at all, but a hybrid RPG. If you want to play a dedicated shooter, go play Halo or Gears of War. Most older fans prefer mass effect 1 because it had a great storyline and many innovative RPG elements. While mass effect 2 gameplay was great, it lacked in the story department
Many fans disliked that Bioware attempted to cater for the masses in ME2 by creating yet another shooter game to appeal to braindead kids like you

hmmm, maybe not innovative. But mass effect was one of the first very few sci fi games that actually had RPG elements. Desicion making, inventory, looting, quests etc

I know most Liara fans aren't bitter or cynical like that, so Dinkamus is definitely not representative of any population whatsoever.darknoon5 wrote...
True, all of us have minor prejudices in some small way. I wasn't saying all Liara fans are haters and trolls, but I've had too many negative experiences with them so far (spamming threads, people like Dinkamus hating on ME2 using illogical reasoning, cheating and spamming of Survivor when Liara died-I could go on for hours) to view the fanbase as a whole in a positive light, unfortunately. I guess it's a shame a whole fanbase endsd up in such a poor light due to some people<_<
But yes, it doesn't help that he always has a Liara avatar, so his anger and spamming doesn't help the Liara fanbase at all when people (including moderators) start to associate the color blue with his attitude.

I’m sorry but not to look a gift horse in the mouth but this Overlord download doesn’t sound all that great at least not as great as it should have been.
“Overlord is the "biggest downloadable content pack yet" for Mass Effect 2.”
-As a downloadable adventure pack it had better be bigger than what we have gotten before. That’s just common sense thinking or it should have been you would think. At about 2 and a half hours of playtime that this apparently has, that comes up to roughly 3 recruiting/loyalty missions in length. Your looking at about 30 minutes per location (if each location is balanced with the same in length) assuming that game time length doesn’t include the travel time. I have to admit I’m a little bit disappointed in the length of this thing.
I would have liked to believe that we would have gotten some exclusive equipment like a weapon, N7 armor part or new things to fight (more mechs and Geth, really?). But this is BioWare not Bethesda (Oblivion, Fallout 3) or Gearbox (Borderlands) so we shouldn’t expect anything like that I guess. To bad there will likely be no puzzle like elements (things that require you to think over shoot to resolve issues) in the download and will be mostly just be more constant shooting.
From what I’ve read about this thing it sounds like a combination of the UNC Cerberus mission from ME1 and the N7Mission chain (N7: Wrecked Merchant Freighter, N7: Abandoned Research Station and N7: Hahne-Kedar Facility). Cerberus, rogue AI and mechs/Geth, oh my. It even sounds like we get to land on a chunk of the planet and drive around to these 5 locations just like that ME1 mission. Even if it is just the one area to drive around it is something at least as long as it is completely free to explore and not some corridor level like map.
Will Overlord have Paragon/Renegade dialog choices and interrupts? Kasumi only had the one renegade interrupt and no Paragon/Renegade dialog. Speaking of where is my issue of Bad Ass Weekly?
Since is highly likely you need the Hammerhead for this download (I don’t expect it to come with it) I wonder if this will be a Cerberus Network access download. Everyone who now needs to buy the Cerberus Network because they bought the game used will now have to fork over $15 to get the Hammerhead and still pay $7 to get Overlord. Somehow I cant see anyone paying $22 for this download. Sounds like a total rip off to me when you look at it from the side of people who buy used games. But its all in BioWare’s/EA’s best interest to make more money off of their fans like this right?
This had better not be like the ME1 downloads where your squad mates don’t get a single new line to say either, just their basic combat lines.
With the inclusion of the 2 achievements this means we wont likely see another story based download like this for another quarter going by:
“All regular disc-based games must have 1,000 Gamerscore points in the base game - the title can ship with fewer than 1,000 points, but anything added later must be free. Game developers also now have the option of adding up to 250 points via downloadable content every quarter after the first year of release (for a total of 1,750 points).”
Zaeed (15 achievement points) came out on Jan 28, Kasumi (15achievement points) on April 6, Overlord in June (probably late June with 2 achievements probably worth 15 each) the next one probably in Sept sometime.
*article Spoiler content below*
-I’m not liking the “Faced with destruction, the AI hijacks Shepard's vision” part. So are we guessing that Shepard has some cybernetic enhancements in particular his/her eyes? It contradicts the whole idea of bringing Shepard back exactly as he/she was before getting spaced. Hopefully the story will explain it.
Honestly this thing sounds a lot like the movies The Lawnmower Man mixed in with Virus and Terminator to me.

Mass Effect 2 still has a lot of those Role-Playing elements - specifically, the ability to choose what kind of role your character will play and her/his reactions to dialogue. The missions are still there, albeit more character focused, and you still pick up and search for different weapons and upgrades in each mission.2pac Shakur wrote...

Looting doesn't exist in either game, as you don't see Shepard running around looting everything he sees by right-clicking. The closest thing that comes to looting are the heat sinks dropped randomly by enemies, but even then I don't consider that to be a factor in an RPG (or even a decent retcon, but whatever).
It's in BioWare and EA's best interest to prevent used game sales by places such as GameStop (which, ironically, had one of the pre-order bonuses). Since GameStop is much more sleazy a company with their rip-off prices on used games, I'd say it is better for the informed customer to buy the game new.Darth Drago wrote...

It's also a lot better than introducing some crazy DRM to prevent piracy and resale.

Seriously Mass Effect 2 is not that disconnected from Mass Effect 1 gameplay wise.
Also you need to play more games, in fact anyone who brings up what an RPG is on these boards needs to.

Well, you can't stop people from not paying any money for the game, but you can stop people from paying some other retail company for it.2pac Shakur wrote...

Dinkamus isn't the only one I've had runs in with. And I agree alot aren't cynical/bitter, but most who venture into threads like this (namely, DLC that's not Liara related) do tend to be.Ecael wrote...

For others though, the whole "This sucks! Everything sucks!" criticism for anything they release is a good way to get BioWare and the DLC team to do the exact opposite of what you want them to do.
I bet if people posted banners saying "Liara's DLC is going to be bad and you should feel bad! Don't release it! Ever!" they'd probably release the Liara DLC right after just to spite them.

Things don't work that way in the real world after a person leave kindergarten.
Making DLC is not about spite or grudges based on words over a forum.

In the real world, people just ignore those who voice their opinion the loudest. Judging by BioWare's current actions, that seems to be the case on this forum too.

You say people ignore the loudest voice, which is extremely contrary to the truth.
Even if you believe that it is obvious you don't abide by that BS rule as you and others around here never ignore vocal posters that don't share your opinion.
Proof? The 6 damn pages of you soapboxing and pic spamming because of a specfic person that posted their opinion.

Lets hope so because if I was on the DLC team I would have stoped after the firewalker pack.
The amount of hate on this site is disturbing. If you don't like something, say so in an adult manner.

Really, you in BioWare SUCK in advertising things. Revealing DLC plot before it even launches, even spoiling ultra dramatical moment in ME2 that should be shocking for player, but instead of that there is "ok, i know it already, let's move on"

that's "new"
iirc...Tali fans started their thread last summer (old forums), it was the first "love thread"
They got what they wanted (romance, squadmate status)

BioWare's made it clear that they do read posts on the forums, but I post assuming that they'll never read mine (mine are essentially short essays, too long to read after all). Knowing that, I can soapbox and pic spam as much as I want, as long as I stay on-topic. If I really needed a response or wanted them to notice my opinion, I'd PM one of them directly.
Also, it probably helps when you always try to take BioWare's point-of-view in your argument, rather than going against them. That makes them more amenable to soapboxing, it seems.
