Has there been an official release date for "Overlord" yet?

There doesn't appear to be one, not yet, not even in the official articles or the ME wiki page. A reasonable estimate would be around the half-way point of the month, but it would be as late as, say, the 25th. No one knows for certain.

Yeah, the main editor of the wiki says that an official date won't be posted until BioWare has it on the main page.

Sounds awesome but you know it's gonna be super short. Bioware likes to tease if you haven't noticed that already.

I would be amazed if it is 2 hours. Kasumi took me about an hour and that was pretty good. 2 hours would be awesome in comparision.

My first Kasumi playthrough lasted me almost dead on the 90 minute selling point, 82 I think it was. Probably bumped up to 90+ by reloading the boss fight to see the slight alternate ending :)

So, I won't be surprised if Overlord lasts pretty close to the promised 150 minutes.

30 minutes isn't bad, it worked out for firewalker and that even gives me opportunity to "roleplay" even further. Doing the 3 lined quests right after eachother is fun because it not only gives the storyline abit more of an impact when you do it without going out of order, but the 3 areas directly dealing with the scientists (the snow and acid ones don't) all share a similar visual theme. You navigate the canyon collecting samples, head to the volcano, then into the crater. It's one of the more satisfying optional missions in the game.

Beyond that the two remaining ones I like to do right before other missions. Doing the snow mission before the Crash Site DLC mission fits for two reasons, atmospherically the two levels blend together, giving it sort of a buildup to the arrival. There's also the previous geth occupation and "tower thing" they left on the planet. Given what you learn about Legion and shepard's old n7 armor it sort of adds to the fiction on a personal role-playing level to pretend that you found traces of geth activity there when you set the monument.

The combat mission, it uses similar assets to Grunt's recruitment mission so you could pretend it's the same planet, but that also goes against the story of his quest in a few ways, although you could just pretend the geth were just junk left in the scrapyard. Although I actually prefer to approach it like...right before tali's because of the geth activity there, it almost makes it feel like one of the me1 missions, plus the weather patterns sort of blend together. (There's a few other similar geth n7 missions i like to lump in as well. I sort of enjoy making my own fiction out of the ones that aren't explicitly linked)

Ontop of that I sort of...group the me1 unc missions into one of four categories.  Biotics, Geth, Criminals, and Cerberus.  I throw the husk ones in with the geth, the pirates, syndicats, basically any of the ones involving illegal folk you're sent to kill, and then the Cerberus ones, I also lump in the ones dealing with the rachni, thorian creepers, exogeni, and genetic research that one could (for fun) declare had cerberus connections.

Infact here's a dumbo list of which ones I do and in which order, based on a sort of...escelation and similarity factor.  Also since I'm a mega-roleplayer I "create links" in my head for fun.  Basically I'm treating the UNC missions like fragmented "bring down the sky" style mini-campaigns.  (Also, sometimes it makes sense to pretend that they're all the same planet and that the space ships aren't actually still in space, sometimes it doesn't, whatever)

Biotics: Pretending they are all on the same planet, even the ship, as if they're all part of the same "compound", rogue vi i just threw in because the other missions mainly deal with kidnapping/killing alliance personel for terrorist reasons, so in my head I pretend it's apart of the same compound, and that Major Kyle's group extends to the biotics in all other areas, so the idea that you start by taking out the vi system is just a pacing thing for me.  (obviously a large compound if you want to discect my obsessive compulsive "fun", and Major Kyle's mission feels like a good bookend to the other biotics segments; also I bring kaiden for various reasons, since this game doesn't really have loyalty quests, I take what I can get)
    * UNC: Rogue VI
    * UNC: Besieged Base
    * UNC: Hostage
    * UNC: Lost Freighter
    * UNC: Major Kyle

 Syndicate: I start out by making my rounds to the 3 folks on the citadel that have to do with these, helena blake being sort of a....framing for it.  Then I just pretend that the various other criminal groups are all just sort of "checklisted" as secondary associates of Helena Blake's opperation.  Espionage probe is a dramatic enough mission to end on, and Negotiation is a good one to start on, although it's kind of impossible to do these quests these ways without exploiting your paragon/renegade score to unlock the two morality quests.  Also Wrex's quest seems to fit in with the surrounding quests in the the group.
    * UNC: The Negotiation
    * UNC: Privateers
    * UNC: Asari Diplomacy
    * Wrex: Family Armor
    * UNC: Hostile Takeover
    * UNC: Espionage Probe

 Cerberus: The listening posts don't specifically mention cerberus until Depot Sigma-23, but if you do them in a certain order it creates an "arc" to "learning" about cerberus in a mysterious kinda way; there's also the matter of the raccni you find in UNC: Cerberus in thier research bases.  It sort of works to just tie those missions to cerberus, as well as the ones involving the thorian creepers and Exogeni (there's a thorian creeper in a cell in the same mission as the raccni test subjects).  Ecogeni deals in shadey dealings so the idea that they're in league with the Cerberus Splinter faction you face in this game kinda makes sense.  Same thing for Dr. Saleon.  He seems like the kind of **** that would try to get in with any group that could protect him.  I also throw in Dead Scientists because of the guy's past with cerberus, and it bookends with the battle against the thresher maw in UNC: Missing Marines.  (All those guys wore the same orange patches that cerberus does)  Doing it like this, I feel, gives Cerberus a "lasting impression" like the batarians had on Asteroid X57.
    * UNC: Listening Post Alpha
    * UNC: Listening Post Theta
    * UNC: Depot Sigma-23
    * UNC: Missing Marines
    * UNC: Cerberus
    * UNC: Colony of the Dead
    * UNC: ExoGeni Facility
    * Garrus: Find Dr. Saleon
    * UNC: Hades' Dogs
    * UNC: Dead Scientists

 Geth:  This one I basically just grouped the husk ones together, bookended by two different geth ambushes that lead into the incursion missions and Tali's Pilgrimage.  These 4 groupings kind of create a series of slapjob "loyalty quests" for the me1 cast.  Ashley and Liara don't really have any but there's a negotiation style quest on the normandy that ashley takes part in that sort of adds something in the way that alot of loyalty quest do to her story (plus it sort of happens at the end of your first main questline on the citadel), and Noveria is practically Liara's version of a loyalty quest.
    * UNC: Distress Call
    * UNC: Missing Survey Team
    * UNC: Derelict Freighter
    * UNC: Lost Module
    * UNC: Geth Incursions
    * Tali and the Geth

So yeah, kinda overdoing it but if ME1 had authoring tools I would totally try to create a series of these four "Overlord" style maps for it.  Sorry for anyone who actually read through all of this, doubly sorry for anyone who thinks it sounds interesting enough to try out themselves...  ;););)

Edit: Also one other thing while I'm on a ME1 tear...I kinda wish the "elevator conversations" between your squadmates also happened in the mako while driving arround for a while, it would have added some character to the drives.  I also wish you had the citadel elevator news channel installed in the normandy's elevator as well, it kinda stunk to have to go all the way back to the citadel if i wanted to hear about my escapades (noveria's elevators could have benefitted from some multipurposed chatter as well)
