I wrote a review in my blog the link to it is in my Sig for anyone interested. I rate the Overlord DLC a 3/10 though.
The link in your signature (http://social.biowar...m/user_blog.php) is a generic one and doesn't link to your blog. This one is correct: http://social.bioware.com/318304/#blog

Thanks for the fixed link, i was curious to read why this DLC should get a 3/10 now i know why and i don't agree with this review at 80%.
The low life of the hammerhead is may be a problem, but i played this DLC for the first time in insanity and i got shot only once (cross fire turet, impossible to dodge, dead in less then 2 seconds). Saying that just one shot or one scratch is enough to kill it is just a lie.
When there is 2 turet you need to stay at max range and to escape quickly (YES this is boring). But when there is only one turet (full life) if you play right you destroy it before you get shot.
Plus, the hammerhead is meant to be played at long rang and using any objet you can find as a cover, that why it use curved shot.
Also, i think complaining about the lack of weapon / upgrade / caracter for a DLC is totaly understandable BUT i don't play a game for that, this is only a "bonus"and not real content.
IMO, i prefer a new 5map with new level design and good atmosphere with no upgrade / weapon than 1map with one weapon
For me, additionnal content mean additional play time.

In a world, where we as players more than once face enemies with gunships, we have to put up with the hammerhead? How sad is that?
And from players point of view, why can't you save when "driving" it, or get out and back in?
It is such a horror that it really subtracts from an otherwise great piece of DLC. Get RID of the damned thing already!

I agree the Mako was a better vehicle than the hammerhead. It at least could withstand 5 shots.TMZuk wrote...
The hammerhead is the silliest invention since the two-headed spoon! Why, why, WHY use a vehicle that fragile as a trooptransport? Why use a hovercraft at all; notoriously unstable, not a plane, not a car, not a tank.... none of the advantages you get from either flying, wheeled movement, or tracked movement.

Y'know that line of thinking also removed the Mako from ME2 and lead to the lamented lack of open worlds/exploration. The Hammerhead section gave you a feel of being in a large world/area, something that was much missed.TMZuk wrote...

I'd rather see the concerns (e.g. flimsiness) addressed than seeing it cut completely.

What about some kind of criminal mercenary leader, drug lord or other bad guy who boards a vehicle or shuttle when you try to get him, and you pursue him with the hammerhead for about 10min or so (not too long and not too short I think) and finally track him down to his secret safehouse, where the story then continues again on foot - IMHO that would be an enjoyable use of the hammerhead.
Apart from that, I think the DLC had a nice variety of areas and a great story with a really touching ending.
And I'm not bothered about any missing weapons or armor, although I would really like to somehow get another pistol and the blackstorm weapon.

all, just finished playing the Overlord DLC.
In short - I liked it, allot!
Now for a more lengthy review of it:
First of all - the length of it is just right in my opinion, considering the
price of it. Not to long and more importantly - it felt well-structured. I
liked the way the story developed throughout the DLC.
The story itself was pretty nice, plus I was suspended all the way to the end!
About the Mako segments - I liked the way they made it this time - especially
the lava jumping segments and the area with the large view which gave you a
sense of large scale. A nice touch were the animals (the birds and grass eating
creatures) - gave it a felling that it was a living and unique planet.
Combat was also pretty standard ME2 stuff (not that it's a bad thing!) with a
few new twists that I liked (the doors being cut by the geth before attacking
and the giant laser scene were the ones I liked the best)
The music during combat was simply amazing - a nice improvement from the
original (I thought that most of the music in ME2 was fitting - but didn't have
any "wow feeling" to them)
Like I said - In short - definetly worth the 7$ price. Keep up the good work
Bioware!!!!!!!

I'd like to try it, but how do I get it? I mean, clicking on profile-add bioware points gets me to dragon age buy points, where I do have the option to buy 560 points, unlike the other way (new content etc.) which only gives me the option to buy 800 points or more (and I don't want to). However, after that it doesn't work anymore, I get a javascript:void(0) in my browser, no matter what option - VISA or PayPal.
You was there

Edit: Thanks nikki191 (below), meanwhile remembered I had a IE8 issue about 2 months ago with another website - had to put this browser in 'compatibility view' mode in order to make it work properly. Worked now too. This may help somebody else encountering the same problem.
The second issue remains: very annoyed from the begining with the whole 'purchase points' thing, and it's worse with each new pack. I think I'll hate to death MassEffect, BioWare, EA and half of the world by the time ME3 comes out.

Thanks, know that, did it before, with Kasumi pack. The thing is it doesn't work this time, can't buy the stupid points. And btw, why not purchase directly the DLC, with no annoying 'points'? This silly idea won't make me spend on points just to have them into my account.
because it makes you spend more money thats why they make you buy points.
im not sure what the issue you are having with not being able to buy points though, try a different browser maybe?
i liked the DLC, its well written and delivered an interesting final choice, i wasnt upset at the lack of extra weapons, armour or upgrades personally and hope bioware keep releasing story DLC of this calibre. kudo's to bioware for this and the kasumi DLC excellent work and well worth the purchase for me.
the hammerhead.. hmm i am in two minds about this, yes making it less fragile would certainly lessen the frustration from being killed so easiely but equally its not really a tank or IFV, its described as an "exploration rover" and it fulfills that job perfectly, i see it as something designed for planetary exploration, quick escapes from most things and a homing missile launcher for self defense. unfortunately its in the hands of people who have to use it in heavy fire fights; something its obviously not designed to do nor do you have a choice in avoiding said heavy combat.
to use a real world example its a weapon equiped HMMMV in situations where a M1 abrams main battle tank or bradley fighting vehicle would normally be expected to fight, yes you can do it and you have the mobility but you are screwed if someone hits you

However, not having squad mates comment is inexcusable IMO. While the animations guys made a valiant effort to give them screen time, no squad VO just makes this whole mission feel weird.
The other problem is that the ending is too over the top. No matter what route you go, Shepard looks like he's about to cry. My Shep is a cool customer, he takes things like this in stride and keeps going. Having him all of a sudden get melodramatic even with the renegade choices is not very good design IMO. You should never force emotion on a player like that.

Overall I'm conflicted about this DLC. The good parts are very good - the terrain is absolutely gorgeous (possible the most beautiful ME world yet), the atmosphere is great, and the combat is fun.

Yeah it really sucks that there is no squad dialog i would have really wanted to hear what garrus or tali had to say but all and all i really enjoyed this DLC and personally i liked that the added some emotion like that..... but then again my shepard is all paragon

Come on, everyone normally complain how Shepard has no emotion and now that he does in this dlc you think Bioware shouldnt do it? I like the fact they are actually trying to make Shepard act more human.

I like the fact they gave shepard more emtion as well more games do need this human element to them it puts more into the game rather than just picking up a controler playing thorugh and not feeling anything.

But seriously....this just came out a few days ago. You need to give the folks at Bioware time; I don't think they even know what's next. I understand that you probably finished this DLC already, but you need to be patient.

As for the Hammerhead, am I the only one that likes it because it's fragile? It's built for speed, not endurance. Given how fast and mobile it is, it's pretty easy to almost never get hit. At least, that's how it is with me. Being able to absorb damage is irrelevant if you're not taking any.
